Gantz (Japanese: ガンツ Hepburn: Gantsu) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiroya Oku. Gantz tells the story of Kei Kurono and Masaru Kato, both of whom died in a train accident and become part of a semi-posthumous "game" in which they and several other recently deceased people are forced to hunt down and kill aliens armed with a handful of futuristic items, equipment, and weaponry. Both the manga and anime are noted for their heavy violence and sexual content.

Yes its as insane as it sounds, and yes the girls as scantly clad because the aliens oogle at them all the time.

Huh... sounds like something I would have found amusing back in the 80s.

i wished the attire are different from both characters. I will source just for the weapons though!

doodlehobby

What the...? They couldn't make the full body suit? What about the blade or basic side arm? And if that is based off the recent cg anime made with the same title "Gantz:O" it's not close as they were all in full body suits. You can see this anime in Netflix btw if you're curious. It's graphically violent though but it stays close to the manga source this part of the story is based on.

Only time I've seen them this compromised is cover illustrations and that's it. Though I never did finish reading the manga. I also watched a bit of their anime but again never finished viewing them. They made two (toned down) live action movies based on the manga as well.

The weapons are cool, but these things don’t seem like they are worth $225.99 USD each considering they have next to nothing on.

Oh the weapons... yeah... quite cool and interesting alright. They work on a totally different level as they described. With the exception of the small Tri-barrel gun, they are not projectile or laser emitting weapons. LOL

The gigantic 2 barrel cannon works like an invisible hydraulic press. It literally flattens the target. Quite messy actually.

The rifle fires an invisible explosive pulse and functions as a sniper rifle picking targets from a distance.

The tri-barrel side arm fires a triangular projectile that encircles the target in a glowing expandable dimensional 'wire'. Once the 3 ends tap into the ground it starts transmitting and opening a portal that takes the target apart. It transmits enough of the target for the kill. Yeah, it's a horrific way to go come to think of it.

Don't plan on getting these and they do seem pricey for what you get. I'm amazed they didn't include the other basic side arm most of the Tokyo team uses. Aside from the tri-barrel gun and sword, the double barrel cannon and rifle shown are from the more beefed up Osaka team.

@doodlehobby. You got me all curious so i watched on Netflix last night.
Fantastic animation and the monsters are the stuff of nightmares, some of which i wish to unsee!

Same question... why are Reiko and Anzu scantily-clad above and not wearing the whole black suit?

PitViper

PitViper
No offense, but IMHO these two are tied for the "Tactical Ho of the Year" award... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Seriously though...to each their own.  I'm sure these will sell well among those fellow 1:6 enthusiasts who enjoy the anime/manga genre.

After her harrowing escape from Tokyo, Reika finally made it here... I really love the figures that have come out of the Gantz:O universe, so I was curious to see her Toyseiki variant, and my love for Reika is in no way diminished by their effort... This is for all practical purposes a TBLeague product, and that is entirely to her benefit... her body armor (such as it is) is fantastically done, and the armor detailing is perfect... and I have to give a shout out to her amazingly rendered gun in all its crazy tech glory... I really love the bishoujo-like treatment of her portrait, which is one of TBLs best IMO... If you like the Gantz girls, then I can absolutely recommend the Toyseiki Reika... I'm really tempted to get Anzu now, so don't be surprised to see a photo gallery of her here too at some point. I''l shut up now ands let Reika speak for herself below Smile

Nice photos, DD. Nice to see you back, and these images, as usual, are amazing. This outfit... just screams "accidental exposure" at any moment (like Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl). I kind of wish there was more to the top design; everything else looks good, and typically scantily clad for these types of fantasy/sci-fi characters.

Lovely photos as always, desertdragon. Smile  Don't think I need to say more about the design of the outfit, since it's been said already. I think my fave photo is the one of her from behind, as her hair looks great and also it means you don't see the ridiculous front view of the 'top' she's wearing. Razz

Damn Desertdragon, great photos!

I love Gantz so freakin much.  The manga is actually brilliant, and so well written.  It's completely insane, and you never know where it's going.  It's a bit tricky, because it's completely over the top on the surface, but there's some deceptively deep and interesting concepts lurking below, and the storytelling is top notch, along with the art.

I actually wish they were doing the full costumes.  The artist does these really pin-up pics between chapter, which is what these are based on, but it's supposed to be them.... just sorta 1/2 dressed.

If anyone is interested, skip the anime series and just read the manga.  The anime botches it pretty badly.  However, Netflix did a CG animated movie a few years ago that's a blast, and well worth watching.  It completely skips all the story, so don't judge the series by it, but it basically just adapts one of the biggest battles from the books, and does it gloriously well.  They make a few key changes to make it more self-contained, but it's a hell of a fun ride.

The figures are a bit overpriced, and I was planning to skip buying, but I love the series so damn much, I'm reconsidering now that they're out.

It they did that in 1/6 as an actual posable figure, I'd consider paying Hulkbuster prices.

I don't really do statues, so I've been wanting posable Gantz figures for a while.  Medicom did some great ones, but I missed the boat, and now they're just more than I'm willing to pay.  Damn, I think I'm talking myself into these as I type this...

And you will not be disappointed in the manga.  I was constantly on the edge of my seat reading, and there are so man mind blowing moments.  Now I want to start re-reading it.

I'm 100% with RevSpooky. The full bodysuit figures would be a must-have for me. I'd like to see the male characters too.
This series is a masterpiece. The manga is heavy, not everyone's cup of tea, but is amazing. I love the style and story. I remember seeing the anime in my adolescence, and it blew my mind. And, boy, was I glad to watch the Netflix's movie. They didn't disappoint, paying a decent tribute to the franchise. You don't need to read the manga or the anime to appreciate the Netflix's movie, so that's a good start.

If only the "Eden: It's an Endless World!" manga would receive the same treatment... This manga also got a great art style, beautifully detailed in each shot, and a really engaging story, with interesting characters' development and pretty emotional in some parts. I was amazed by how sucked I was into it. I don't know why every time I think of Gantz, I remember this one, and vice-versa.

So glad to find another Gantz fan! And I'm so with you.  I'm looking into if anyone has made just bodysuits of a similar material to these, and maybe I can combine to make the full suits.  I would LOVE a Kurono and Kato to go with them too.  I think the anime might have been my 1st introduction too, but it goes off the rails right when the manga really starts to hit it's stride. The Netflix movie made some smart changes to make it feel more self contained, so I completely forgive anywhere it departs from the source material.  In a perfect world, we'd get a full series adaptation from that production team.  And I agree, it's so not for everyone.  The gore and violence is turned up to 11, and while there is some gratuitous nudity, it's not the focus of the series.  And I think the main character has one of the most interesting development arcs I've ever red.  (For anyone reading for the 1st time, yes he is an unlikable bastard.  Stick with it, it pays off).

I'm adding Eden: It's an Endless World! to my reading list right now, and will dig into it ASAP. Thanks for recommending!  Totally psyched to check it out.
