Looks like they are racing each other with the same character. I think the smiley head here is more successful than the other company's; the regular heads look very similar and pretty much spot on. Some of these accessories are pretty cool.

The likeness is pretty good. Except for the denim. It is too thick and too coarse to look realistic at 1:6. Here is a screenshot from the movie.

Is there a difference between this and the Dark Toys version:
https://onesixthfigures.forumotion.com/t2506-new-product-dark-toys-dtm002-1-6-scale-anton-dx-edition-figure?highlight=anton

I know nothing about these companies.

Edit:
The Star Toys figure appears to have a better smiling portrait.
Dark Toys appears to have the long (to the floor) silver-bottle.

Prototype vs Production, which is better, Star Toys or Dark Toys?

Dark Toys vs Star Toys

For some reason, the Dark Toys figure costs on average $50 more.
The Star Toys figure appears to look better. Both the shirt and trouser colors are more screen accurate compared to the Dark Toys figure.
The Star Toys figure has the better look 'smile' portrait.
The Dark Toys figure appears to come with slightly better looking accessories.
The Dark Toys figure comes with a Hot Toys style stand.

When it comes to the non smile portrait, neither the Dark Toys or Star Toys portrait features the lazy right eye.

It looks like Star Toys is the clear winner based on your comparisons.
I think the accurate creepy smile alone is reason enough to choose this over the other one.

Star Toys - Killer Anton is in the house! Smile
Being a massive fan of the movie, No Country for Old Men, i had to add this character to my collection.

I was surprised by the quality of the box. Super thick card, with sponge insert. The side flap holds in place via a magnet.

The figure himself is rather good. Captive Bolt Pistol weapon is well realized with decent weathering on the canister. The hand-cuff's are made of metal. The only negative, is the Rifle with silencer, which has no weathering, and is plain black with plain silver silencer. The rifle would benefit from a better paint app. I guess most collectors will leave the rifle in the box and display Anton with the Captive Bolt Pistol.

On the subject of the two portraits, i prefer the non smiling portrait. Both look good though. I 3rd party super-duper painter could take the smiling portrait to another level. Maybe something to think about in the future.

The paint on the two sculpts is quite different for some reason. The non-smiling is more tanned and has a sweaty gloss finish, which is apt for the desert:

Male - NEW PRODUCT: Star Toys STT003 1/6 Scale Killer Anton 51313002301_2c378b40be_o

The smiling one is paler and more matt:

While the smiling expression is the one he gives before he uses the bolt gun to kill the driver on the road, it began to seem out of place on the horror shelf. I've changed it back to the grim, tanned sweaty sculpt.

Dark Toys' version of Anton is supposed to release in a week's time.

@Asta Congrats, you own an Anton also.
The photo you posted of the non smile portrait looks more shiny than my non smile portrait. It might simply be your photo.
I will take a photo later. Maybe he will look more shiny under the lens?

One area that could possibly be improved is is jacket. Some dye might possibly eliminate the white showing though.

In some images (from the movie) his jacket looks black. I cannot recall how many jackets he wore during the movie. Which gives me another excuse to watch it again Smile

In the bottom image the jacket appears to look more black. The silver buttons swap sides.
The image might have been flipped. Lighting might be playing a part. I assumed he wears the same jacket throught the movie.

The image probably has been flipped, as his hair has also been flipped. I wonder if this is how it is during a movie? (flipped)

The photo was taken with the flash on, which makes it appear more glossy than in reality, but there is still quite a noticeable difference in colour and finish between the two. The variation stood out as soon as I opened the box.

That photo has been flipped. I thought it looked odd because the trigger on the bolt gun was facing the opposite way to the figure's.

This is the correct version, as it is in the film:

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN FULL COSTUME WORN BY JAVIER BARDEM AS ANTON CHIGURGH!!
Here is a full screen-worn outfit as worn by Javier Bardem playing Anton Chigurh in the Coen Brothers film No Country For Old Men....the costume can be seen in many scenes. The jacket is dark blue denim that buttons up the front. The shirt is a dark red long sleeved western style shirt made by Anton of Beverly Hills. Sewn on the inside collar are the initials "J.B" and the date "May 2006". The pants are black plyester jean style pants with white stitching made by Wrangler. THE LEFT FRONT MATERIAL HAS BEEN CUT FROM THE WAIST DOWN TO THE THIGH REVEALING THE INSIDE WHITE POCKET WHICH HAS APPLIED STUDIO BLOOD! The outfit was purchased directly from PROPSTORE of LONDON and includes their COA. Also included in this lot is a framed film cell display with a signed photo of Javier Bardem. The signature unfortunately is a little hard to read but it comes from a very reputable dealer and it is nicely framed matted with 4 original film cells from the movie! This is a must for fans of Javier and No Country For Old Men!

Assuming this is genuine, it appears to be lighter in real life.
Judging by the wall shadow, a flash has been used.

Yes, I was going to post that the jacket there looked like it had been photographed under a bright light.

This is a good resource of screencaps for looking at the colour in the film under different lighting conditions:

The figure came out pretty nice. Especially the non-smiling head sculpt.

Picked up some color dye, dark blue, today and soaked the jacket in the dye. It is currently hanging up to dry. I was not sold on the white showing through the blue. I will see how it looks once it dry's out. Then i post some photo's.

Jacket dried my this morning. When it was wet it looked dark, too dark. Now that it is dry, the orange stitching survived, and to some extent the white survived.
All it all, it turned out well. Took some photo's. One of the photo's has some imagery taken from a screen cap. I guess you will be able to work it out..

When the weather is right, blue sky etc, i might take some outside shots with the smile portrait.

Goof: I should have placed red tube behind his legs, not in front of.

I think his belt buckle should be larger.
If you wanted to be hyper picky, the red tube should not no be clear, and the color more washed out.
The front of his trousers should feature a sharp crease.
The list of fixes goes on, as always ;D

I just noticed, he does not always tuck his trousers into his boots. I might have to see if that is possible with the figure?

Edit: I see Asta has managed to display his Anton trousers over his boots.

Edit no.2: I managed to pull the trousers over the boots. No easy task. I resorted to using tweezers, such was the force required. I took be back to the scene, when Anton killers that guy on the floor.

Nice job on the jacket. Looks good. I'd say the sharp crease is the only real challenge left.
