No, the M56 Smart Gun from Aliens is based on the MG42. The first one is a Japanese MG that is based on an Italian design, and the second is the ZB-26, predecessor of the legendary BREN Gun.

I wondered whether this was a repaint of the all-metal Kadhobby/Pattiz version that came with their 1937 Japanese infantryman, but with the carry handles added.
