She (GAC Toys GC017 A) has just arrived and is already helping herself to everything in sight...

After a long day at work, and some time slaving over the BBQ, Gunner relaxed on the couch with Peggy, who claimed she didn't want anything other than her big glass of wine... until...

The head is one of the set announced on this forum some time ago (HERE). I got version A, with the shorter red hair, perhaps because it reminded me a little bit of Dana Scully from the X Files. While the expression is a little odd and maybe sleepy (though it can be put to perfectly decent uses, as you saw above), the quality is excellent, and the finished product appears to match the prototypes used for promotional purposes. The head is a reasonably close match to TBLeague's "new suntan" (though the head is just a little darker/warmer in color than the S25B I used), and also a reasonably close match to Jiaou Doll's "wheat" (which is just a little bit darker/warmer than the head) -- as you can see below...

The hair is actually ok... it just seemed a little flat in that last photo. The other versions have ampler and longer hairstyles.

Hope this was useful and at least mildly amusing...

What do you think?

Why does that always happen?!?! I always offer to get her her own, but no...

This freakin killed me! Best use of that head ever. I know what that expression is supposed to be for, but man, she just looks SO drunk. I kinda want that head now to make a perpetually drunk character.

LOL. Well I'm glad it resonated with someone! There does seem to a be a bit of a pattern there with all that sharing. I just had the TV on as background noise and there was some silly rom com on in which the scientist woman devised a compatibility chart for her potential partners, including a "willing to share" column. But you may be on to something when you interpret her look as drunk (which of course can make you sleepy too)... I shall have to take this into account when planning further scenes.

The Mrs never goes for my sausage.
She's a water thief.
I'll share anything on my plate or in my cup, but when I go for a drink of cold H2O ( as Stevan Wright says "2 Hydrogens, 1 Oxygen. Always mix it yourself!" ), an empty glass will frost my pumpkin!
Lol.

Gunner shares your pain... but I suppose it's a small price to pay for the company of your worthy spouse.

Thank you, rollotomasi! And good idea -- she could very well be singing something sultry... except now I am having visions of Celine Dion singing that her heart will go on and on. Too bad I didn't pick up a version with more glamorous hair that would have worked for something like that.

Thanks, Ephiane, glad you liked them. Head sculpts with specific expressions do help with specific scenes, but of course can get in the way in other ones. In a perfect world, we would be getting the same character in a set of head sculpts that cover a basic range of expressions. Of course, with PERS eyes and some articulateable faces, if that could be done on a large enough scale for a low enough price and a high enough quality, one might get away with a single head sculpt, but that seems unlikely for now.

And I did think of Ramsey Bolton and his sausage at some point...

Awesome last pic GubernatorFan! That head sculpt matches the suntan perfectly. I might pick up the orange version.

Thanks, MerylAkiba! Keep in mind the body in that photo is actually Jiaou Doll wheat (which is a bit darker than TBLeague new suntan, but probably close to old suntan). The other photos (modern clothing) are on a TBLeague new suntan, if that makes you see how it matches up.

Well, in a sense any single head sculpt would look like that, as it doesn't change from shot to shot. But hers is an odd expression alright.

Hi, I’m thinking of using this head for a custom. Is the body you used with it a TB League/Phicen S16A/17A? (I notice the skin tones aren’t exactly the same though)

Hi. I touched upon this above, but here it is in more detail. In all but the last photo in the original post, I used the new TBLeague (formerly Phicen) S25B (slightly more petite than the older models, but not as petite as the S27B). The head is slightly warmer in color than TBLeague's "new" suntan, but note that light, photography, and the computer screen settings make a difference in how you see it. In hand, the difference is quite negligible. Stay away from TBLeague bodies with the product number ending in A as these (at least as of recent years) have been pale in skin tone, which is difficult to match with most heads, and would be far too pale to match with this head.

A closer match, if necessary, can be got by using Jiaou Doll 3.0 bodies that are wheat or KT in skin tone; I used a wheat one in the last photo of the original post. If you want it to be able to stand, remember to look for the type with detachable feet. Jiaou bodies have a different sort of seamless covering and only the joints are metal. In terms of articulation they are almost as good as TBLeague (Phicen). You can find some comparisons HERE and HERE.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that! :-)

Would the phicen/TBL 2016B (tan) be a good match for the head, do you think?

And can the hair be pulled back into a ponytail at all or is it too short?

You are very welcome. I am not sure what 2016B means -- the most identifiable part of the product number starts with an S, then a number, and ends with a letter (nowadays usually either A for pale or B for suntan, but it wasn't always so). Real tan has been discontinued for some time, and the original suntan (which is slightly darker than the current or new suntan) has also been discontinued. To make things more confusing, TBLeague is still releasing some of these older bodies (with the right number, don't know about the year notation) but with the new skin tone. So if you are buying a body now, it might not be exactly like it was originally. Bearing this in mind, I tried the identical but longer-haired version of this head, GC017 D, on four other TBLeague bodies for you. The light changes even when you don't do it on purpose, and especially when your photo processor auto-corrects (the little sampler rectangles showing parts of the chin and neck are not auto-corrected) -- so look at each for itself. Keep in mind the floppy-footed bodies cannot stand on their own (which is of no use to me, but you might prefer look over functionality). None of these is a perfect match, as the face is a bit warmer/yellower than any of the seamless body skin tones. Jiaou Doll's wheat and especially KT might be closer. But I don't think any of these are horribly off either.

PS I forgot to mention, since you asked about pulling back the hair in a pony tail, there should be no problem doing this with this version of the head, GC017 D; you can trim off any excess hair.

OH NO, SHE'S AFTER HIS SAUSAGE! (GAC TOYS GC017 A) Tbleag15

Hope this helps you decide.
