It looks gorgeous. Perhaps it will be even better than Sideshow's excellent version from not so long ago. But I already have that one, and can't really justify going for this new one myself.

Ditto. Looks cool, but no incentive to replace the Sideshow version (particularly for just a Droid). Plus, the Sideshow one at least came with the cool "bartender" set up.

Exactly. This might have one or two other things (but no serving tray, etc), and might be a bit tighter and handier to use, but the look is not that much different or better, so there is no incentive. Unlike, for examples, figures with human head sculpts, which is a comparatively weak point for Sideshow (or at least their SW ones have not aged very well).

I rest my case. I really like Artoo though and really want a good one. I missed the boat with the Thinkway one and would treat myself if there was a worthy Artoo out there. This could be it.....

I have to agree with others here, having the recent SideShow already I am not likely to spring for this this one too.
It is very nicely done, and has several pieces the SideShow does not, but there is no must have feature with it.
I wonder what the remote controlled sounds are like?  I have the HT Darth Vader with remote control sounds and the set up of it makes it almost useless.  I turned it on a couple of times since I have had it and thats it as it takes a good 10 mins to get to the switch and it turns itself off after a few minutes lol. Its a big gimmick really

The price will also be a killer here in the UK too

Anyway a nice figure again from HT, but SideShow do droids well enough for me not to want this one too, so its a case of......

"this is not the droid I am looking for.  Move along, move along"

Paul

The price would probably kill it a bit for me too. I only have the Hasbro one, which is still good enough, but he doesn't do anything. This has options, still, it's not out till well into next year anyway.

CHEERS!

Rats. I missed out on the Leia with diorama scene. This R2 seems as if it was made for that. I have the sideshow one. Pretty awesome as the shoulder plates are swap-able. I also love the third light up feature just by tapping the head. Does the holographic projector rotate? Also does the retractable leg actually retract like Sideshows?
