Ran Out of Space, Collection Fun Time! - Sat Aug 03, 2019 3:39 am

Just sharing a video of my little toy collection from a few days ago, coming from the point of view of someone who already ran out of space. I don't have a big place (just an apartment) but I love toys, so eventually I ran out of space to display them. Right now, most of the newer stuff are in boxes on top of my piano (which is on top of my bed...). I'm probably gonna end up selling ones that I don't have much attachment to, which is hard since if I own it, I probably fell in love with it at some point in the past lol! Oh well, but gotta make space and turn some of them into extra money for Dragon Ball stuff.

I still have some brand new, sealed stuff that I haven't opened up simply because I barely have time to relax now. Work work work, not much time to have fun. Make money to pay important adult stuff, by the time the fun stuff arrives, I'm already back to working again. Eventually I lost interest in some of them, like in the Dragon Quest 11 characters and I couldn't muster up the energy to have fun with them. The Star Wars stuff like Count Dooku, Princess Leia, and some prequel characters, I also just lost energy to open them. I'm probably gonna sell the Force Awakens/Last Jedi stuff (not shown because they're in... another box!) because I'm not really digging the new Disney Star Wars trilogy with Rey as the star. I just prefer the original trilogy (and Natalie Portman from the prequel!) so I'm just gonna keep those. The Iron Man MK 50 Nano Set 2, at first I wanted to open it, but since I already have the MK 85, I also lost interest in it. I just prefer the "final" or most powerful version of characters majority of the time unless it's a special character like Goku from my favorite Dragon Ball series.

As for why they're in boxes together, I just don't have the energy to dig up their boxes and put back all the accessories in the plastic trays anymore. Normally what I do is I open them up, display the main character, then put their accessories in ziplocks. I've got separate boxes organized in terms of brand or series they came from. For example, I have a Figuarts Accessories box, but I also have a Figuarts Dragon Ball Accessories box that's separate because I want all Dragon Ball stuff to be together.

So far, there doesn't seem to be any negative effects for most of the toys to be hiding together in a box that I've noticed. I'm in California so the weather here can get hot, very hot as in go beyond 90 or 100 Farenheit! Paint Rubbing issues are rare so far (they've been in boxes together since March 2019). I've only noticed it on Evil Buu (the tall big pink guy) and there was a black paint where there shouldn't be. I just used tissue paper and water to wipe it off and it's gone. What you have to watch out for are those Hasbro Lightsabers for their Black Series toys. Those are too soft and they get bent easily, just like what happened to Darth Raven's light sabers (the guy with metallic mask wearing a hood and cape near the beginning). The little TBLeague lady seems to be fine, no problems, no paint stains at all.

Anyway that's my story for now. I hope my situation somehow entertained you or gave you insight as to how some people deal with suddenly running out of space for toys lol!

Most of my articulated figures have roles in a yet-to-be-written Rappelz fanfic. #fantasy #game
The main characters, the Imbrien sisters, were my player characters.
Kira, a Holy Warrior; Sela, a Dark Magician; and Tessa, a Cleric.
Topics tagged under collection on OneSixthFigures Screen10

They're "Volbitsu": Obitsu heads on Volks bodies. Kira will get a new head with her right hair colour (it's partly rooted but I rarely work on it). And maybe a new body if Mattel ever makes a Curvy Made To Move in the pale skin tone that would match. I bought a Cy Girl clone for the purpose but the body was too tall and hands too big compared to the sisters.

Kira becomes a minor celebrity wherever she goes. She doesn't have her own band but is a featured vocalist on some other artists' songs. She's a lousy cook but good at baking. Kira befriends the most difficult people and may be somewhat of a magnet for sociopaths. She seems to get more than her fair share of boyfriends. Her childhood betrothal to Galhadrian Roquefort, a wealthy knight, was broken after she was kidnapped by orcs and considered defiled. Though she's no longer eligible to marry a nobleman, she hopes to find a good man who will value her for herself and willing to marry her despite her reputation.

Kira's apron by Kukolka , on Flickr

Sela hates being told she can't do something. She learned the destructive dark magic of the Asura race despite being a Deva, the race of light and creation. She ran away at fourteen to avoid being given to Kira's former betrothed. She's been imprisoned for several years for breaking into the realm of the demigods. But the demigods have decided to release some of the prisoners...

Happy Halloween! by Kukolka , on Flickr

Tessa wants to help people in need, but is challenged by agoraphobia. She has weak joints prone to dislocation, and resultingly lives with chronic pain. She likes to draw and sew, but after exertion needs days to just rest. Tessa occasionally has Visions of the future. She was sent to a convent in Laksy to preserve her from the Church in her homeland, who would have had her put to death for heresy. The Church in Laksy sees her Visions as a gift to be used to benefit the Deva people. She secretly admires Galhadrian Roquefort, but is much too shy to talk to him.

I've been quite lacking in creativity and productivity lately, along with trying to cut down on spending, and taking up new sports/hobbies.

With no new ideas/concept to build new customs, I'd just like to share some of my old pieces along with my modest collection/display. I hope you don't mind.  Razz

2nd Shelf: 5 customs I've made these past few years. (If you'd like to see more, click on their names/link below.)
[Lara Croft , Tifa Lockhart , Eve (Cyber-girl) , Akane (Kunoichi) , and Amanda (Vampire Hunter) ]

Most of these haven't had any changes to them after completion, with the exception of Lara and Tifa. Lara's had various updates/changes these past few years, while Tifa only had one.

3rd Shelf: Mostly Batman/DC stuff. I'm still waiting for the HT Joker (Arkham Asylum) to go with Harley.
[Harley Quinn, Batman, Arkham Knight, and Wonder Woman]

Harley is by Supermad Toys, while the body is Phicen. I'm very happy with Supermad's sculpt, I've had the Momtoys version and I really hated how that one looked. With Supermad, they give you two head sculpts. A regular one looking straight, and the second one (as shown) looking to the side with messier/worn makeup.

4th Shelf: This space is just mostly empty/undecided, its too low for any 1/6 figure to stand. So I just let Scarlett/Black Widow sit there all alone.

Scarlett/Black Widow (slightly suggestive?):
Here's some close-up of Scarlett, out of all the BW/Scar Jo sculpts, I like this one (Civil War ver.) the most.

To help with sorting and searching through this forum as we accumulate more and more topics (threads), I invite all members posting a new topic to add hashtags at the end of the first post. If you have already created a topic, you can go back to it, and edit the first post to include the hashtags of your choice. I have gone through a few topics started by others and myself and included some hashtags as a test, but feel free to add more of your own, where applicable. We do not seem to be limited in number of hashtags, so some redundancy is ok (e.g., both #lordoftherings and #lotr).

By clicking on a hashtag, you will be able to see all topics (threads) tagged with it -- you will be taken to a page containing the first posts in these topics (there may be further posts with additional info and images, so you might want to enter the respective topics and follow through). In Profile you can follow specific hashtags of your choice.

Working list of common hashtags below. You are not limited to this, and feel free to supply additional suggestions; so as to minimize the number of hits during searches, please do not put the # in front of your suggestions, which I will integrate into the list. At any rate this should demonstrate the principle of the thing. There are basically three types of hashtags that would apply: descriptive (like #historical or #outdoors), franchise (like #starwars or #aliens), and maker (like #easyandsimple or #hottoys).

Your Latest Purchase... - Mon Apr 09, 2018 1:24 pm

I thought I'd start a thread like the one over on OSW, which happens to be one of my favorite threads on the site.

Well, I've been spending a bit of money: I bought The Spider figure from Go Hero/Executive Replicas/Phicen: the Star Ace Katniss Everdeen figure from THE HUNGER GAMES (a gift for my daughter); and the 1966 Batman & Robin set from Hot Toys (warehouse find; paid $399.99 plus shipping for the set).

Have any of you purchased anything 1:6 related lately?

Hello, All

Just wanted to show my current collection. Some are still WIPs, and some aren't up yet (like the custom Deadwood figures from our very own siquisiri (need to find my Dremel in order to get the heads to fit on the bodies). It would be great if others showed their shelves/collections, as well.

Anyway, hope you enjoy.

In case anyone's curious. The Kumik sculpt on the "Cowgirl Stripper" on the left is on one of the Phicen SS bodies w/ the original "Tan" skin tone (not the Old Suntan)
The Very Cool HS of Jessica Alba (Nancy Callahan) isn't as noticeably different in person as it is in this flash photo pic.
Topics tagged under collection on OneSixthFigures Ht3egjq
The Kumik HS (1st on left "Asian Audrey Hepburn", the middle "Cute Asian Coed", and far right "Olivia Wilde") are all on the Phicen SS "Tan" bodies, now long sold out. Wish they'd bring that skin tone back.
Topics tagged under collection on OneSixthFigures REmaBva
As you can see the Kumik HS in the back row far left is a horrible match for that body.
Topics tagged under collection on OneSixthFigures 4epoHog
Back row, far left and very front row ('Emilia Clarke/Sarah Conner' & 'Quiet' HS) were both from sculpt4ever and are both on the Phicen "Tan" bodies, as well. As you can see I switched the Quiet outfit and used the Very Cool Shooter HS (the one everyone keeps saying looks like Megan Fox, though I don't see it). I still haven't found a use for the original HS that came with the outfit/HS combo set -- mainly because I can't find a single body on the market (jointed or seamless) that matches the odd color of it.
Topics tagged under collection on OneSixthFigures QGqte3S
Eva Green's HS is by sculpt4ever (as you can see, the HS doesn't match the body; I had her on one of the "Tan" Phicens, but it didn't even match that color). I added the earrings and made the necklace for Vesper. The red lingerie girl is one of the last plastic skeleton Phicens (I figured Sean deserved a near-naked beauty to flank him).

I have DID's General Frank (Ed Harris -ish) but I haven't figured out a way to put his ribbons/medals on his Dress Uniform without making it look stupid.
Topics tagged under collection on OneSixthFigures Nv9m1Jr
My 1800s: Simza (Noomi Rapace); the HS is the Flirty Girl Hornet w/ a wig; the dress was custom made -- hand-dyed skirt and embroidered corset top by Amy Jones [AJClothiers], the same lady who has been doing all the Western clothes for the ArtFigures projects; she also did the Watson & Sherlock (Jude Law & Robert Downey Jr) outfits for me a few years ago.

My Wizard of Oz Squad is still a WIP. The Wicked Witch of the West is painted in acrylics (I don't recommend doing that; if you touch the body where it's been painted, despite acrylic being a flexible paint, it cracks). The body and clothes are all from the Keres No Tomorrow set by Phicen; the Hs is a painted spare Lady Death V. 1, with a wig; broom from Star Ace Potter series).
The moment I saw that Kimi toys HS I knew exactly what I wanted to make with it. The Wizard of Oz was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and when Zenoscope started doing their take on it, I knew I had to try to make something similar. Dorothy is eventually going to get a different top; the skirt was made by my other and I, since I couldn't find a gingham skirt anywhere. And she's sporting a super-soaker to fight you-know-who. I couldn't believe my luck when a company made those high heels she has on. Toto 2.0 is her attack dog. The other two are self-explanatory, I think. Still waiting on the Mr. Z Lion (though I do have an alternate option that I started working on a couple years ago), and I'm still working on painting up my take on the Tin-Man.

My Lord of the Rings shelf is a WIP. I have Boromir, Legolas, Gandalf the Grey, Eowyn and the ACI Aragorn (haven't taken the first four out of the boxes yet, and Aragorn needs a body transplant -- so he doesn't look so bulky); I also have Sam and Frodo, but waiting on the alternate HS for those two). I swapped out the Tauriel body for a Phicen, and eliminated part of her outfit (mostly because I thought her entire part in The Hobbit was unnecessary and not cannon, and a good portion of the outfit was junk).

The Chuck in the front is a custom HS (from Will, the same lad from Down Under who has made all the Western sculpts for ArtFigures); the body is a swap out w/ ankle extenders -- Chuck was 6'3" -- because the original body was absolute garbage; I kept Sideshow's original "Astronaut Taylor" in the back as a reminder of how far we've come. I wish we'd get updated versions from this line; the original ape sculpts aren't bad, but they could use a serious repaint.

That Anubis is a modified version of the one by Mystical Forge; the original body was all black, and the worst type of crap rubber you can imagine (stunk up the whole house the second I opened it). It was also extremely small, coming up to about his shoulders w/ HS of the current body. I stripped it of it's gauntlets and shin guards, and everything else, and tossed that toxic piece of s$%t in the garbage. The body is the World Box "Wolverine" body. When I attempted to put the pieces onto this body, they were such hard, brittle plastic that they shattered -- so those followed the body into the trash. About the only good pieces out of that entire set was the sarcophagus, the staff, the scale, the ankh scepter by Cleo, and the inside cover makes for a nice backdrop. Even the HS isn't all that great, as, even with the original body, it is undersized. Cleo, is a combination of parts from the TBLeague Cleo set (the throne, Anubii statues, and most of her jewelry); the skirt and decorative waist piece were from an eBay set; and the HS is from the "Rowdy" (often called Rorty) boxed figure. My apologies to the ladies for the nudity.

I bought those steins to have the October Fest Girls hold, but those crap Phicen wrist joints can't hold a thing (and those steins are real metal and ceramic, very nice, but VERY heavy).
My Fire White Rose (Isla Fisher) became Kim Possible (my wife and I love that cartoon). For those that know, that was on the garbage plastic skeleton. She's leaning a little like that because I snapped her torso in half (just below the rib cage), and also her left bicep (right in the middle). Ted is her new sidekick; she booted that imbecile Ron Possible to the curb. Hehe.

The Vampi on the left is one that I made with one of the old plastic skeleton Phicens, so I could use those boots; the HS is Wondery with a hair transplant, the outfit is vinyl with a pattern by me, the bat from the Asian Vampi, jewelry from Michael's and etsy.

Been working on my new Man-Cave since the wife and I bought a new house in October of last year. Been slow going. It's still a WIP, but it's getting closer to it's final stage. Needs to be cleaned up and final organization finished. But I thought I'd share this WIP pic anyway:

Just for the heck of it. I'm curious. I've been off work for about a month now due to chronic illness, and in between Dr.'s visits, infusion treatments, and bouts of exhaustion, I've been working on my Man Cave and trying to get my figures out of their boxes and on display. As I'm going along, I've started cataloging everything. I knew I had more female to male figures, but I wasn't exactly sure what the count was until yesterday. So, anyway... this is what I have so far:

Female Figures in-hand: 142
Male Figures in-hand: 93

So, do you all know what you have? (I'm assuming Chung's going to have us all beat with his massive storage facility Laughing
