Maybe... at least they started out with a "real" hair head this time.

The head sculpt doesn't do it for me.

The sword is not custom to this figure. It is a generic plastic one that is all over ebay and aliexpress.

But in all fairness to Star Ace, that was Viktor’s sword in the first movie. The first one was probably made by Phicen years ago, and it’s been boot-legged ever since. Whether SA is using their own molds or just using the bootlegs is another story.

I’m glad they went with rooted hair, and the light up blue eyes is inspired, but I’m afraid this is probably going to end up being the same squished sculpt they used before. I’m also disappointed they couldn’t go for a shinier material for the catsuit — the film version was pretty glossy. I have their first version, but it’s a fairly disappointing figure, mostly because of the head sculpt — the fall off from the prototype images, which hooked me in, to the final product was drastic — much like their god-awful teen Hermione (well, maybe not quite that bad).

Ah. Apologies to Star Ace.

Here is the original prop in the movie.

For anyone who's interested, BigBadToyStore has an accessory pack for this up (just the head sculpt and a white winter coat like she wore in the last Underworld movie):

realise I posted in the wrong thread when I said I was getting mine this weekend... Oops!

I got her. I’m not happy.
Here are photos of my head sculpts all on the S17B for comparison (not including BW cause she is way too dark).

Here are the shots of Selene on an S06 (new suntan, apparently). I think she looks best with that fur coat, but by herself she is out of proportion. Not to mention the hair being unevenly cut...

Yep. I saw some pics of this on the Freaks board, and I lost my $#&t. This company needs to close their doors — absolute garbage. I’m done ordering anything from these worthless morons. The gall of a company trying to compete in this over-priced market, and then put out crap that looks like something you could get at Wal-Mart is disgusting. But, I only have myself — and anyone else who continues to buy their trash — to blame for perpetuating the problem.

Eek, I'm so sorry. Their headsculpts are just so.... disappointing.

Yep. Never buying from them again.

Well... disappointing, but I've seen worse. You can futz with the hair, clip a little bit here and there, if necessary change it altogether. The sculpt is the same as in the promo photos but the color seems different, though that can be partly the light. At any rate, you ought to get what you see in the promos without having to fix it, when you pay for a product.

Yeah, I agree that the futzing should not be necessary. If it were me, I'd repaint and re-hair the entire thing! ;p

I don’t think a repaint will save the squished head sculpt. Kate is a good looking woman, this is not.

I agree with you there, but I think the headsculpt was already questionable in the promo photos.

Yeah, you are right, it wouldn't help with the likeness. I just meant that I'd repaint it and then use it for something else.

Ignoring the hair (if that's possible Shocked ) would it look any better on a pale body?

I picked up one of the old molded hair versions cheap once, and while I quite like the actual sculpting of the face, the skintone only even vaguely matches a Jaiou Normal.

Yeah... I'm clutching at straws for you.

EDIT: Who did the Kate B Van Helsing figure? That was a weird sculpt, too.

shazzdan

It looks like the promo shots to me, except for the wonky hair cut. The promo shots were pretty bad and the final product is always worse than the promo shots so what were you expecting? There was nothing deceptive in those photos. The promo was pretty clear that the product was going to be overpriced garbage and that is what we got.

Just saw MWC's review, i wasn't aware those eyes light up. I thought it was just glow-in-the-dark blue-painted eyes.
The light up eyes are not what i expected. It would have been nicer if only the iris lit up and not the whole eye (like what's shown on the box cover).

Too little too late! They may have hired Waruna Weligamage, but, he won't stay long when he sees what the factory do to his sculpts. His talents will be better served elsewhere.
