I'm checking out a coming soon sixth scale figure tonight - Artemisia, from the film 300: Rise of an Empire. This is another Star Ace outing, but unfortunately, it's not at the same level as their recent Newt. You can find my review here:

or with the rest of the reviews at the usual:

I also have a terrific guest review up from Arinjoy Mitra, who's looking at the nifty MAFEX Justice League Batman:

Thanks for reading!

Michael

Pretty fair review, Michael. But I probably would have dropped it another half star, making it a 2 of 5 for the outfit alone. Really sad the direction Star Ace is going, and I fear it won’t be long before they are out of business.

The paintwork is $%^&.

IMHO . . . Michael is being too generous in his review.

I'm looking forward to the clone version. No where near the price of the STAR ACE version, but at least the expectations are tempered.

Thank you for posting the review, Michael. And the observations seem to be spot on, from what I can tell. One of the odd things about this one is that, the way they have her made up in the movie, the actress looks a little bit caricature like -- between the angular features and the makeup. And in theory that ought to have made the portrait and its paintjob easier, yet it did not. I am not a huge fan, so I'm not feeling the sting of personal disappointment here, but I am concerned that many will be very let down in their expectations.

It's just plain bad to me and to ask $235 for it is an insult! It's like they've given up, and they really showed promise at the start.

This.

The whole "vote with your wallet" thing keeps coming up, and the sad thing is folks keep ordering from them, hoping that somehow they'll turn around and make it right. They have no incentive to as long as they keep getting POs? (It's the retailers who get hurt when all the cancelations start piling up, not Star Ace).

It proves even STAR ACE have it's own blind and devoted followers.

Pretty bad. That sort of quality is worth less than $100. $235 is an insult.

It really shows just what power advertising has. 100% of pre-orders will come off the back of the promo. Even with a track record like Star Ace, they see the promo and think that's what they'll get. Time after time it isn't. I scroll past the vast majority of promos now. Even if the subject interests me, I HAVE to see the production figure in hand.

After the Hermione and Lena Headey figures were so awful, what was anyone honestly expecting!?

It would take a miracle for them to up their game now

CHEERS!

Wow.  Great review as always, but I have to agree with Stryker and DFC, the scoring is much kinder than I would have been.  But, one of the great things about Michael's reviews is that those crystal clear pics really let you draw your own conclusions.

And none good ones! Michael has saved me a ton of money in the past, and sent me on grail quests. If it wasn't for a guest review on his page, I wouldn't have my avatar or that figure!

This was so underwhelming that I passed up on the opportunity to pick up the loose head sculpt, which says something, considering how many I get.
