Oh good. Hope she and the rest of the tbleague figures are not too delayed. : )

Well, if they are delayed at least it gives us more time to save up for them... the POs I've seen for this one are so expensive I might have to reconsider buying the full set and just go for the sculpt that I like and the hands (I've already got most of the costume and accessories from the other Vampi sets).

At $300 USD (plus shipping) this is... or was... an expensive figure for what relatively little is included.

Did anyone here on the forum ever pick up the Munro Vampi release? I have been unable to find any reviews or owner photos online, although admittedly my searches have been somewhat cursory.

You should check out the photo review on Ed's Toy Box. Lots of other great photoshoots too.

Hm. From checking the Ed's toybox link... while it is unquestionably a better likeness of La Munro than TBL/Phicen's earlier attempt, there's just something off about both those sculpts. They look a little too 'squat' to start with. I don't like the smirk, and the half-smile isn't much better. I wish they'd just gone with a more neutral expression or one like the one on the box.

It's nothing like as bad as their Bettie Page sculpts thankfully, but even so I'm kinda glad I didn't make the effort to track this down, now.

Thanks for the link! I'll check it out!

GW - after checking out the pics, I agree with your assessment about the head sculpt looking a bit too "squat" compared to the actress, and at certain angles it looks a bit odd on the figure. From other angles, though, I think it looks great, so it's a matter of posing, perhaps, to get the right look.

As a pure nostalgia trip, I might see if I can scrape together the dough to pick up the Munro Vampi while they're still available. BigBadToyStore still has them in stock at original retail. Let me see... what can I sell on eBay?

It looks like the Munro version commanded quite a steep price hike over the others. Probably there was a double licensing whammy paying Munro on top of paying Vampi rights -- and since she never actually played the part, they would have had to pay separate independent license fees, unlike say HT picking up RDJ rights included when they paid Iron Man rights.

Munro Vampi cost $100 more than Gonzales Vampi at $200, which is something I'd find it hard to justify given how she never actually played Vampi, probably wouldn't have worn the costume if she had, and the sculpt doesn't look spectacularly like the actress anyway. The Asian version sculpt and the blood dribble sculpt seemed off to me, but the Gonzales Art sculpt was just about perfect Vampi, so if you could still find it for its original starting price $100 cheaper than Munro Vampi, that's the way I'd go (unless you are specifically getting it for the dubious Munro sculpt). Don't know what the aftermarket has done to those earlier TBL Vampis prices, tho. And incidentally if you simply wanted a nice and affordable TBL Vampi without integrating into 1/6, TBL did the 1-12 also.

Sadly the sideways glance on the Gonzalez sculpt has proven very limiting, which is unfortunate as otherwise it is indeed almost perfect. The Asian version is a nice sculpt in itself, but for Vampi it's just ... wrong. My favourite remains the original SHCC version (the neutral one and not the hideous winking one, obviously  Smile ) although that's probably impossible to find at a reasonable price now.

Yeah you're probably right.  I think it might also have something to do with how low the head is sitting on that S23 Ed has chosen for the mugshot pics. Something just doesn't look right.  On the other hand, it also looks too large on the S33 it's supplied with (due largely to the narrow shoulders). It's a shame, as the eyes are quite well done (something TBL doesn't always excel at).

I think I would have gone for the González version if the body had been closer to the original painting. It's my favourite representation of Vampi.
