41A and 42A and 42D are my favorites.

I like the purple one kind of reminds me of the 70's and Gay Ellis from UFO

YMtoys always seem to do interesting hairstyles. While I don’t always love the exact styles they go with, I applaud them for doing something different and actually trying to make the (imo) horrible 1/6 synthetic hair look a little less like the untamed poufy manes on so many of the 1/6 heads out there.

The blue-ish/purple-ish hair is great ... very striking colour. Would look good in some cyberpunk or neo-noir setting.

I really liked the 42A. If I had gotten one of the furisodes that were announced a while ago, I would go for this HS.
It's funny how you see so many female HS with generic features, not linked to an actual person, but it's hard to find a male HS that's not based on a celebrity or a video game character.

Agree, this is very frustrating from a customizer standpoint.

While I do generally like what YM does, experience has taught me that their actual finished sculpts tend to bear little resemblance to their promos. So much so that from this point in time I won't commit to buying until I see in-hand photos or videos.

I'm really liking several of these HS 40A for a new team I'm thinking about building called Fox Force Five inspired by an old Tarantino movie called Pulp fiction.

Yeah, although personally I don't usually actively dislike what they eventually release, and I can always find a use for them. It's really disappointing though when you've earmarked a sculpt for a specific project only to find significant differences in appearance (and in one case, size) when you compare promos and sculpt in-hand.

Also, having previously purchased different optional variants of the same YM model, I can testify that you may also find pronounced discrepancies between those (beyond what the promos would lead you ro expect). I recently bought the dark-haired 'Anna' sculpt, for example - which while still a nice sculpt, only bore minimal resemblance to the promo, was too pale even for a TBL pale body (despite it being described as 'suntan'), and was noticably smaller than average (luckily I found an acceptable home for it on a pale TBL S24). From the promos however, I had this sculpt earmarked for an 'older sister' character for the TBL Narama sculpt, but in practice this proved totally unworkable.

I then decided to take the plunge on the blonde version of the same sculpt, and found that while it was still small and pale, it was a better match to the promos than the other one in terms of it's paint and make-up.

So... buyer be aware.

Did anyone end up getting either YMT040A (Black hair) or YMT040B (Silver hair)? I am wondering if they are small enough to use with the petite tbleague bodies, or if they are regular sized....

I didn't, but I'm guessing you mean YMT041A (Black hair) or YMT041B (Silver hair) judging by the hair color? (Just to avoid misunderstandings. )
