The POPTOYS team officially launched the collectible 12-inch movable doll model [Cai Chuan Series]. This series features three major chapters: "The Battle of Europa", "The Warring States Period", and "China's Deer". The characters include female characters of ancient European knights, mercenaries, Japanese warriors, rogues, Chinese generals, and warriors. The products are made of alloy armor, weapons, hand-knitted nails, and pleasing overall character shapes as selling points. The chapter of the Europa Wars is now open, and the battle between the Griffon Knight and the Dragon Knight is equal! I hope you can enjoy it.

Very striking sets, to be sure. As a collector and kitbasher, I would have preferred something more historically realistic (and appropriately sized/proportioned), but there's no denying these look great. And POP Toys does maintain pretty high standards. I love their Jeanne d'Arc (which may have inspired them to go ahead and offer these).

2020 might be a raging dumpsterfire, but there are some really great toys coming out this year.

It's hard to find any armor for female figures that isn't skimpy, so I really like both of these. I'll get the black knight for sure, but I haven't decided whether I'll get the white one or just pick up the pieces I like.

I like the horses too, but I'm not a horse expert so I don't know anything about the accuracy of the proportions.

Oh I agree that while this is historical fantasy, at least they are not fantasy teases (a variant on tactical teases). Smile As for the horses, they seem to be (although encased in armor) the same or very similar to earlier POP Toys horses, and these are said to be (I'm no horse expert myself) not very realistic.

i like these but then I've fancied getting a full plate knight for a while.

its the cost and the look of some which spoil it for me, the male knights always look to, i don't know, nasty to me. like they should have been on the wrong side of the Arthur battles. kind of like thugs in plate, not the idealised knights i grew up with.

even though these are female and i wanted to add some male members to the party i think i like the silver one, maybe swap the head out onto another body for one in court dress or 'muffti'

That black knight looks really intriguing but something about her really reminds me of a Cylon. LOL

Those "frog-mouth" helmets were only ever used for jousting. You can't see below your nose unless you are leaning forward in the saddle and even then they give severe tunnel-vision. They are completely useless on the battlefield but they were one of the safest tournament helmets ever invented.

For further discussion on the anatomical accuracy or lack thereof of the PopToys horse, see this thread here:

Now that being said, since this one is covered up mostly, you could probably get away with it if it's not a huge deal to you. I would personally struggle, but that's just because I know what horses look like and I can't 'un-see' it. ;p

Generally speaking, knights WERE "thugs in plate". There were some exceptions such as William Marshall but, in general, they were murderers, kidnappers, rapists, extortionists, and standover men. They treated their own class with a certain amount of courtesy but not the general population. At best they treated the underclass with the same amount of care that one gives to a useful tool.

Cool fantasy knights. Love the coat of arms of the horse but also the knights tunics.
I think the armor is gender neutral enough that you can change the heads to males if you want to?

Mmm Much like today then!

I was brought up on tales of Arthur, Lancelot, Percival, Gawain etc. I know there is some debate about whether if any of these existed and when but to me they are my Hero's, myths and legends none were perfect , maybe Galahad, but at least they strove for an ideal and to me they will always be the epitome of what a knight should be.

So I'm thinking of getting the silver one rather than the Elizabeth I figure for several reasons

a) i like these sculpts (I get fed up of well known actors playing the part of my characters)
b) the silver one because I like her helm better than the black one.

and
c) She will fit in with my characters better.

You can order via poptoys directly...I think the prices are pretty good there on the page...especially compared to early ebay prices!

Plenty of reliable retailers will put these up -- I'd avoid eBay for POs as much as humanly possible. They always overcharge for initial excitement. I would wait -- it's just a matter of time before they start getting listed.

I do like the look of these Knights -- the horses I can live without (especially since I already have Jeanne d'Arc's horse, and have Elizabeth I and her horse on PO; not to mention having a Mr. Z Ahkele Teke horse on PO, and hope to be able to get one of the Ili horses IF they ever come back in-stock at machinegunfigure.fr). That being said, I don't really have any more room for random characters just because I like the look of them, so I'll have to pass.

That is undoubtly a great advice - early ebay prices are astronomic. You can also see that for the Coomodel Knights right now.

But the prices on poptoys.net are great - just don't know if there might be additional import taxes...so you might wait for your well known dealer.

I have the same "porblem" with so many horses right now (some on pre order)...but I think I still can't pass on these horses as I always want to have some tournemnt horses like these. Smile Will sell some of my other horses then

Saw on Poptoys' site that the PO price for the knights is $172. Ekia has them for around $220 and BBTS has them for $240. Is there any reason why people wouldn't pre-order from the manufacturer? I was just wondering because I would definitely like to order them from Poptoys themselves for less money, but was curious if there are some benefit to ordering from a store. Prior to this I've always gotten things from online stores.

Valiarde

I ordered the knights from Poptoys store - I think the only downside could be tax depending on where you live - but I think it is well worth the risk if you see the difference in pricing. (First time ordering via poptoys directly, too)

Asmus also sells directly and is often faster than stores and gives special items on top of it for their figures. I don't buy via asmus because pricing is similar than stores I order in Europe and there I don't have to pay tax on top of it then.

Edit: I guess kghobby just put them up for good prices too. With shipping it will be similar.

What’s the link for the Pop Toys store?

p.s. i can't seem to get poptoys to send me verification email..

I got a knight and a horse for $268 from Poptoys' website. On BBTS a knight alone is around $240. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Got my knight and horse in the mail today- wasn't even expecting it, as I never got any shipping notification. On the package itself the label said it was from Castle Collectibles, and I was totally confused because I never remembered ordering from them. They must be Poptoys U.S. distributor? The actual toy box itself said Poptoys, but it looks like it was packaged and shipped from someone else. I don't know how that stuff works.

Anyways, I absolutely love the quality of the armor of this figure. I wasn't certain what to expect in terms of actual product vs. promotional photographs, but I really like the way the armor turned out. The paint looks very nice, and it feels quite sturdy. The only thing that would make it even better is if it had actual chainmail, but that would likely have been prohibitively expensive. The shirt and pants are faux, cloth chainmail. The only quibble I have about her outfit is that the helmet is rather difficult to put on with her hair in the way, although that doesn't bother me too much since I like her without her helmet on.

Some of her accessories I don't really have any interest in, like the surcoat, so I didn't bother to take pictures of them.

I decided I liked the orange/red horse more than the black one, so that's the one I got for her to ride on.

NEW PRODUCT: POPTOYS: 1/6 Armored Series Europa Wars-(90% Alloy) Griffon Knight/Flying Dragon Knight & Warhorse Knight13

I don't really know anything about horse anatomy or accuracy, so I won't really go into that. I don't really know anything about saddles, bridles, etc. either. It's a little tricky to get her to sit upright in her saddle.

NEW PRODUCT: POPTOYS: 1/6 Armored Series Europa Wars-(90% Alloy) Griffon Knight/Flying Dragon Knight & Warhorse Knight14

I like the headsculpt a lot on this figure. I thought she looks appealing without being overly stylized. I find myself even liking her synthetic hair, which is a rarity these days since I started hairing my own headsculpts.

The only thing that annoys me with this figure are the hands. This is the first Poptoys figure I've ever gotten, and they use a different set up for hands and feet than Tbleague models. Their little pegs don't hold onto the hands that well, and I find that they fall off the arms rather easily. Also the hands are made out of a really inflexible plastic, so it's rather difficult to open them up a bit so hold onto something like her lance. At least the grip on the weapons will be really strong once you do get them in her hands.
