Ah, so they didn't skip the 40-41 numbers after all. Phicen's release schedule continues to not make any sense to me.

Also, I think at this point they're just trolling me by not releasing the Viking Woman body.

I have a feeling that these are going to be very popular given the struggles I’ve seen with kitbashers and customizes getting some third party clothing to fit on TBL bodies.  I’m actually working on something right now using a VeryCool body that a suntan version of this new TBL body would probably be perfect for.

The only thing I’d be concerned with are long sleeves and pants being too short.

On a positive note for me: another body I don't have to waste money on.

Expectation:



Reality.

Another unrealistic body? Check
Ridiculously thin waist? Check
Big boobs again? Check
No suntan version? Check
Do I need this? Of course not.

I have a feeling I know what Resident Evil collectors first thoughts will be when they see this body.

Unfortunately, it still isn't tall enough for that figure. lol

While I agree it's not a very practical body for most, it does have it's place. Just look at the more stylized head sculpts out there. For example, I digitally edited this image of the 40/41 with an Elsa head sculpt on it, and it looks about right to me. Take a look:

Also: it's interesting that the S07 is the bodytype they keep getting out for their comparison shots, when I'd happily take a rebooted S07/9 with removable feet over any of their most recent base body offerings.

That's not untrue of course, but (in my opinion) when there are at least two existing bodytypes (VW and Monthu) that a lot of us are waiting to be able to buy as base bodies, and when this one doesn't look much different to the S37, that place is at the back of the queue.


DISCLAIMER: I'm sure this body will have its fans, I'm just in a bad mood purely because this isn't Viking Woman or Month(u).

The only figure I would want to build with this body is Faye, from Cowboy Bebop. But I know there are tons and tons of anime characters kitbashers will love to make.

I'm still waiting for a company to release a HS and/or the costume set for Faye, as I'm feeling too lazy to make the yellow shorts with the suspenders and the top on my own. Super Duck? VSToys? Anyone? Please? Hear the cry of this poor lobster. The Netflix adaptation is there to create some demand.

I like the physique. It will be useful for certain game characters and such. I also prefer pale to suntan. That said, it opens up the same old problem of good pale heads being few and far between. I end up buying suntan bodies only, purely because there is MUCH more support, heads-wise for suntan. I see these being limited by the lack of pale heads, and I'm not a fan of the cutesy munchkin heads included. An odd choice by TBL for sure.

Not to mention the size difference both in terms of the connector (easily fixed with bluTack) and proportions. Most heads will look too big.

I like it. But I don't care to have it. That might change if they release a Sailor Moon set.

I do very much appreciate the optional head AND detachable feet!! I hope it's a trend.

Are the connectors not the same size? Looking at the comparison shot with the S07, they seem the same.

I'm so tired of these anime-ish bodies. It's like.... just too stylised to make it useless to me. Not to mention too tall. No thanks.

Finding clothing but especially heads, boots, and hands/gloves for a lot of these small TBL bodies is extremely difficult. The S24,25,26,27,34,35,36,37,44,45 and now these all have tiny connectors for heads, hands and feet that don't work with the majority of items sold for 1/6 scale. Even if you mod the connectors to accept available heads/hands/whatever they typically look too large or otherwise out of proportion to be viable.

I'm surprised they apparently sell well enough to keep making this many, given how little support is available for their customization. I'd much rather see improved shoulder refreshes on the s10/12, and new bodies closer to the s16/17 than these tiny bodies with varying degrees of large breasts.

Haha, true, although i think for that figure, you'll need a 1/4 scale sized to be accurate to your 1/6 figures.

I feel like they are leaning more towards anime proportions for the last little while. I wonder if some of these are for collaborations with other companies as well.

Of course it has its place, and I'm sure it will be useful for plenty of collectors. But I'm with those who are disappointed. Should another tall, pale, big-busted, and rather anime style body have been a priority? Not for me, although I realize it's all subjective. I do appreciate there is a removable feet option and that the anime heads are also optional. But really the best thing about this body I can point to is what appear be narrower shoulders.

With the heads, it just seems like an uneasy compromise between an S36/37 and the latest S44/45. For what reason and to what purpose exactly I don't know, but it certainly comes too soon after both.

Still, it saves me some money for a while.

This Elsa hs is pretty big...it would not match this body type.

Cowboy Bebop's Faye is a good idea...NF's up and coming classic anime live version. I can see Superduck thinking about it already...just not using this body, again, i guess...

YMToys heads are usually small for the average TBL body, so I believe they could be a good size for these slimmer bodies, maybe even for the smaller bodies. They have a wide variety of styles, some pale and others suntan.

Somehow I see that the set manufacturers are still designing their new releases for the older (mainly S10, S12, sometimes S20, S22) bodies, not even for the range between S28 and S39. There are already anime bodies (S36-S37) among them with a very narrow waist. The recently released S44-S45 are also more suited to the anime-genre. I just don't see a market niche justifying the creation of S40-S41.

So long as this is the last one of these anime-types for a while and TBL return to attempting a more realistic bodytype next time (or even just release the ones they're holding back), I suppose I can live with this existing.
