Oh this is beautiful. But... while I respect the beauty and artistry I find myself not caring much. I suppose this guy really needs a story (for me anyway).

Im not really convinced this is zatoichi to be honest?
facially its WAY off and age too also a large number of years off.
The outfit definitely has a Chinese style to it.

Its a nice looking figure non the less

Facially off from whom? Maybe not the original actor but he's a fictional character originally from a book and has appeared in many movies and innumerable manga and anime as well or inspired them. This could be anyone's interpretation of him or from any of those sources or the artists own interpretation. It was my first and only thought when I saw this.

not wishing to sound argumentative but from any rendition i have seen of the character. he was always portrayed as an older man with short hair or bald head, in any of the many films starring Shintarô Katsu or any of the manga i have seen. admittedly i am no expert on the manga and havent seen that much and it was a LONG time ago so things may well have changed. now i come to think of it he does bare a resemblance to Tadanobu Asano from the zatoichi reboot? but i havent seen that since it came out 20 years ago so i could well be wrong? he also wasnt blind in that film? who knows what its based on haha
