Greetings,

For a near future project I might need a female headsculpt without hair, or at least very, very short hair. Seems they don't sell those? Popular characters sporting the look are the Natalie Portman Character from V for Vendetta, G.I. Jane or Ripley3, but I did not find those.

So, what are my options? Do they sell Resin Casts without hair for rooting?

Or do I have to remove all the hair from a sculpt and resculpt it with a shaved head texture before repainting that area?

Or is  there something like 'wigs' so I don't have to remove/destroy rooted hairstyles?

What are your ideas, what would you do?

The base of the outfit will be something like this, probably combined with a tbleague s16 or s17:

Hi, a few short haired or bald female heads from ebay.

Cheers

I was going to suggest the VTS Wasteland Ranger Furiosa, but I just saw how much hair the head sculpt actually has. It might also be a little on the small side for these older, taller, TBLeague (Phicen) bodies. That Buddhist "Monk" head suggested by MrBubba might work.

This one isn’t bald but it does have “short” hair, a bootleg Maria Hill:

The wondery elf head sculpt has removeable hair but may need some filler modification to make it look right

Alternately and i don't know if it will work but your idea of, and i think it's sacrilege, removing the hair from a sculpt might work and you could use one of the 'flocking' tools that they use on model railways to simulate grass. The static grass material comes in different colours and i don't think the tool is that expensive.

Thanks Bubba! Don't know how I forgot Furiosa. The second one might work and looks really cool anyway. I can imagine that one combined with the high collar white suit.
The monk head also looks really great and totally unique. But well, it's above the budget I set myself for headsculpts. But I will watch that sculpt, has a lot of potential.

Thanks Gubr. Yes it has quite some hair, but maybe not too much for the purpose I have in mind. But I would have to repaint it because of the more sterile/clinical looking theme of the character. You as TBleague connoisseur, do you have a review for the s16/17 ones? I chose it because it might be one of the few seamless bodies without those heavy Chinese artillery shells. Maybe there might be another fitting body? Maybe I don't need a totally seamless one for that kind of suit?

Thanks Stryker! I know this head and thought about getting it for my first project a while ago, but it was always way over 40€. Did not know there was a bootleg. Cool looking head in any case, might be 'easier' to chop and reshape a cheaper sculpt than a expensive and/or rooted one.

Thank you for the ideas! I think filling modifications and resculpting might be something I can't get around on most of the heads, but that's okay.
That flocking device is something I always wanted to try, I will think about it ( so much thinking!) No idea if I could pull it off, but it might look very interesting...
And yes it would be quite the sacrilegious deed to unhairify a rooted headsculpt.

And, another question to all of you - do you know if there is something like those white suits in my first post for male characters?

I don't have a review for S16 or S17; I have some S17s, and one may show up in some of the various TBLeague-related photos I've posted alongside other bodies, for example the see-through mesh dress in the New Superhero Revealed? thread is on an S17B.
There are some superhero bodysuits out there, some of them perhaps leftovers from Triad Toys. The aesthetic you show also might correspond to some of the clothing from the figure(s?) based on the movie Equilibrium by (?) Pop Toys.

I wish I could help when it comes to bald heads -- this is something I've been scouring online for myself for the last year now.

As for the s17b body, if you want to see it 'in action', just look at ReverendSpooky's awesome photos... I know that he uses that body for several of his female characters, including the amazingly acrobatic Marrow. Smile

If you wanted really bald, I think there are some head sculpts out there (check eBay) for the Ancient One from the Dr Strange movie (and now Endgame).

I checked out what you meant, the John Preston/Christian Bale Figure in white. Looks very cool, but the look I want to achieve is much more minimalistic. Also, the price for this figure isn't minimalistic at all. xD

Thanks, although her look is very very iconic.

Ha Always great to come back to The Reverend's work! Back then when I knew nothing about those tbleague body distinctions, I thought Marrow's is one of the more muscular ones. Anyway, bodies and suits ordered, at least the female version.
May I ask what you want to do with the bald heads you are looking for?

Thanks! 'Unpainted' is the keyword I was looking for, a whole new world of resin heads. The Kristanna Loken Head is another sculpt I want to get, some day, but not now.

But I looked for more unpainted ones and ordered this Daenerys head now. Might be some work, but I like that the 'hairline' is so visible, I guess I will have to cover the back of the head with hairtextured green stuff. Ah yes, and paint that whoe thing..

Aw, yeah, I know what you mean... I think I even asked Rev what body he was using for her on one of the threads a while back, as I was surprised by how striking it looked 'in action'.

And oh, yes, of course, it is no secret  -- I'm hoping to create at least one version (possibly several versions) of Asajj Ventress from The Clone Wars animated series. It's ended up proving a bit more difficult than I anticipated in terms of finding the right body and head, though. There is of course already a figure of her made by Sideshow many years ago, but that one was based on her appearance in the Dark Horse comics and original 2D animated series, so it's not quite the look I'm going for. And in keeping with many Sideshow figures from that era, the head is a tad oversized and stylized for the more realistic look I hope to achieve or I would have just used the existing figure.  But yeah... that's one of my many WIPs that I've gotten a bit stuck on in recent times. Right now it's the body that is actually proving to be the most frustrating part...le sigh. :/

Good find on the unpainted Daenerys head, I hope it helps you with your project! Smile

Nice one, I think it's a recast of Kumik's Jodie Foster headsculpt which wasn't bad at all (for kumik lol)

I have that "Jodie Foster" recast -- and as such, it's slightly smaller than it should be for 1/6.

I have the original Kumik sculpt, which was nice enough, but I like this one better, as it would lend itself to adding "real" hair. Of course, one would have to paint it, and that is likely to be a hassle... And these casts are probably all resin, which can look great for professional promotional images, but has various disadvantages over PVC.

That sounds like an interesting project. She somehow was one of those tragic bad guy characters I was rooting for when watching the show. What I like about that kind of character, there is no real/definite version of her since she only appeared in stylized animation and was never portrayed by a real actress wearing mask and costume.

Hah thanks! I also thought this was a Tilda head until Blackpool's comment.

Ye, let's see how the Clarke head will turn out, never painted a complete 1/6 head from bottom to top. But it should be easier as 1/72, 1/48, 1/35 or 1/12, right? Wow I just realized my figures grew in scale over the years...

I received some heads as a commission to turn them into skinheads and tankgirls. They came with hairpiece removed.
I don't know how they will turn out and wasn't super accurate at the hairline, as they will be covered anyway.
I took the opportunity for experimenting and learning.

Aluminium foil
[6/14/20]Bald/shaved female heads - Tank girl army PSX-20200107-224955

I used an air drying clay like paste. Downside: It will get mushy again after water contact. And yes it's that blonde evil guy from Hairy Potter turned punk.

[6/14/20]Bald/shaved female heads - Tank girl army PSX-20200107-225952

Mixed matching skin colors. The right one will get a Greenstuff stubble texture and bangs, but I think I will add Hair to Harley without another layer of Greenstuff.

About these I don't know yet, they were part of the payment and are used for experimenting and training right now. [6/14/20]Bald/shaved female heads - Tank girl army PSX-20200119-012417

Thank you for sharing your experiments! They certainly show promise. I'm looking forward to seeing Lucius Malfoy/Jason Isaacs as a punk. ;D

And your update on this post is very timely as I'm trying to gear myself to try this same type of thing on the [soon-to-be] Ventress head. It's already bald, but it has an unfortunate glaring seam on it, so I need to fill that in prior to painting, and I've been vacillating over how best to do it.

Thanks, I also wonder what my customer will do, he creates post apocalyptic tank girl/mad Max/fallout raider like characters with detailed costumes.
I used the clay because it was cheaper and required less Greenstuff and because the surface looks more organic when formed with water.

For one head I combined Greenstuff hair stubble with lamb hair.
