Wasn't sure if this was better to post here or in the new products section.  But today, New Wave Toys, who makes the 1/6 arcade cabinets, announced their new Kickstarter.  The main product is for a 40% sized mini boombox, but as part of the campaign, they are also doing a 1/6 scale "micro" boombox as well, to go with their 1/6 Replicades line.  They'll be fully functional bluetooth speakers too, and they're only $20 if you buy through the Kickstarter (retailing for $40 after release).  I figured at least a few on here would probably be interested.

Very cool treatment of another classic. I'm sure Saint Crow will come across one in his travels and snap it right up.

Oh man, you can COUNT on it (although probably not until December based on projected timelines). But I had a feeling you might really dig one too.

I set up an account on Kickstarter to back this. After setting everything up and trying to back it, KS doesn't like my credit card and KS doesn't accept paypal so no go for me.

This is pretty cool. I just don’t have a need for one.

Neat Boombox. I wonder how big the boom is?
I wonder what Arcade game they plan after Dragon's Lair?

Crap... one more cool New Wave product I'll miss because they don't ship to Brazil... >.<"
I know that BBTS will probably have it and ship to my country, but the price skyrockets.

Shazzdan, you might try asking them on the project page. Just because the project is on KS, doesn't mean they're using KS to collect payment. There are other collection companies the projects sometimes use. I have been in on several KS that have taken Paypal.

If you want it at KS prices, you can have it sent to me, and I’ll ship it to you. PM me if that works for you.

Thanks. I'll try that. No idea why KS doesn't like my credit card. I used the same card that day on other sites with no problem.

Last I heard it was Asteroids but that was a while ago now.

Wow! Thanks for posting, Rev!
So glad to see they plan to replicate other boomboxes.
I hope they do a black boombox that looks similar to the one carried around by Joker thug, Lawrence, in Batman '89.

This is really awesome, so much so I wish I had a use for it to justify purchasing. ;’D

Speaking of, if they ever make a functional 1/6 scale jukebox, someone please let me know....

Depending on the feedback from this boombox, they might as well do a jukebox. And it would be awesome!

I backed this as well. It's amazing that it plays audio as well. I backed the last couple of things they did. Just need to set them up as a diorama eventually!

I'm actually on the hunt right now for one that will work, for a 1/6 bar that's slowly coming together. I have some options I'm looking at, but I'll let you know if I find anything that actually works. Nothing that will actually play, but I'll be happy with one that lights up.

Oh, wow, awesome!!! And yes, by 'functional' in this case I meant 'one that gives the impression of being functional' -- so a light-up one would indeed be amazing! Smile

I found something on eBay that is really close in size, once converted to scale, I'm optimistic about.  I got it super cheap, although it's listed as "untested" so who knows what will and won't work.  I do have some backup ideas for lights though, as long as the size works.  Fingers crossed.
