Ah... ethical choices on the line... Nice installment. I find myself wondering why is she wearing an ankh; is it supposed to be ironic? Also, I thought the overall plot had placed much of civilization under the king of the United Kingdom, but here they are talking about queen and country. But maybe I'm confused between different story lines.

Embarassed  That's definitely a continuity error. In the "Kimono Troop Command" version of the near-future world, there is now a  king in the UK. Most BAMComix stories outside of this group effort are set in an approximation of "modern day," hence queen. I don't recall that the contributors to Hidden in the Shadows have had a discussion specific to that detail. Your observant comment offers an opportunity to find consensus on that point. Thanks for reading so carefully. None of the rest of us (all five) noticed that discrepancy!

The Purgatori aka Sakkara figure includes an ankh among the accessories. I am not familiar enough with the backstory of the character in the original comic books (circa 1994) to know the significance of the ankh. [EDIT: just looked it up. In the Chaos Comics days in the 1990s, the character was supposedly of ancient Egyptian heritage, from Alexandria circa 1390 BC.]

Well spotted Greg, the only possible explanation would be that maybe when Jake and Demitri still served within the SAS, the Queen was still the reigning monarch?

Really pleased you enjoyed the chapter, and yes, choice will need to be made at some point. As for the Ankh, you have observed a key bit of evidence in her mysterious background bounce .

Well, I have been accused of having a pedantic eye for detail. Sometimes it's a good thing, often it is probably just annoying. Frankly, it is impressive that there is so little in the way of continuity errors in stories put together from so many different sources. As for the ankh, I think I remembered something about it being in the original set -- but I bet your explanation would be more compelling.

Hey, there is nothing wrong with keeping us on track Ian, it was indeed a great spot Very Happy . The story for Sakkara is still unfolding, but your are correct, it was in the original set.

Yes, overall, the continuity has been largely consistent among the contributors, across more than thirty separate chapters and nearly 800 pages.
