He's huge (17 inches) and coming to my collections.

The size is throwing me, to be honest. 30 years ago, I probably would have been all over this, as I was a fan of the comic at the time, but I haven't been into Spawn for ages, and, as I said, what's with the scale of this thing; makes no sense, really. I don't ever recall him being any bigger than any other "human".

Took a long time til we get an 1/6 Spawn.

On any other day, yes that might be "huge," but today I'm seeing this announcement right after the In-Famous Dark Star (ie Marvel's Black Dwarf/Cull Obsidian), who is 21 inches.  For frame of reference a Hot Toys Hulk (original and Gladiator) was 16.5 inches.  We're gonna need a bigger boat...

Technically there have been several 1/6 Spawns, but they are basically one-ups of the 7" figures in the McFarlane Spawn or Mortal Kombat lines - so they are hard-plastic material not fabric etc.  And they are pretty close to statues, like old-style McFarlane toys.  It would be a different matter if they at least had the same basic articulation of current McFarlane DC, MK, Warhammer etc 7" figures.  Which is relevant here because apparently those McFarlane 12-inchers are still going to be the only 1/6 Spawns in town -- this guy announced here is a smidge under 1/4 scale and I don't know why.  Even if there is presumably some story line somewhere, maybe in King Spawn, where he is this much oversize, Spawn is normally normal sized 99% of the time, and I think a normal sized 1/6 Spawn would have made way more sense (and viability).

Damn, I was a major fan as a kid. If it wasn't so expensive I'd buy this for the nostalgia.

I still have the Medicom 12" Spawn and he's still in one piece. He was also the villain in ny stop-motion movie. I will have some fun integrating this huge version in future projects.

He looks very impressive, but remember that you're on your own for all the special effects. Smile

Was a big spawn fan when it came out many years ago. However, like Stryker, I'm not too into it these days so it wouldn't fit in my collection. Todd makes pretty awesome detailed spawn figures already. This one I think would look cool as a stand alone, but like others said, it would seem too tall to be paired with any of your other figures. I always thought of spawn like the height of a tall military action hero or something like that, but never overly sized. If you're getting this, best to hit up your local reseller quick, I heard there already have been c&d's by the toddfather.

Probably a unique situation.  Usually they have to send c & d's once they become aware -- as otherwise their copyrights or trademarks could be at greater risk by showing lack of a will to enforce.  But they are unlikely to really take further action, because a) Asian legal proceedings (where the manufacturer is) are distant, expensive and uncertain, and b) there's not going to be any single dealer or warehouse in the US that gets such a quantity of the offending products that US legal proceedings are worthwhile.  (It would be different if eg Walmart started carrying knockoffs).

But it's uniquely different where McFarlane is not only the creator and rights holder of the character (both the writer and the artist, actually), but also a major toy-maker himself, whose personal company grew out of Spawn figures into a dominant force.  Arguably "Spawn" makes more from its toy line than comics sales or media licensing.  McFarlane has kept such a personal hold on Spawn that I was surprised to be reminded by actionfiguremovies2 above that Spawn was once licensed to Medicom RAH -- everything else is McFarlane personally.  So this is one time that pushing it beyond just the c & d letter isn't just a common "risk/benefit analysis," but maybe "this time it's personal."

Really nice looking figure. I remember loving the character when he first came out and had the 1st McFarlane Toys…..this one does seem rather tall…I know Spawn was meant to be about 7 feet tall. But this is way taller
