This is Katyusha re-released with a different head sculpt and uniform colour. Simple laziness? Cheaply capitalizing on their past work? Or the opportunity to get a slight variant to make a pair? You decide. They were at least up-front about it by calling out the 2.0.

If Alert Line was producing this, I would be interested but Flagset historically has a huge drop-off from promo to production. The head sculpts rarely turn out well and the weapons are mediocre at best. The uniform quality is usually pretty good, so maybe some of these pieces can be used to bash a better version. But why on earth is she wearing an EKII ribbon? Battle trophy, maybe?

I think the hair is much more promising than Katyusha's (someone here rehaired her and she was lovely). Different head, hair, and uniform color does make a different product. Of course, there is recycling involved, but perhaps also a "capitalize on previous success" mentality. In a way this is lazy but there's more to it. Ayway, if they are releasing Natasha, they should be releasing Boris, too. Wink

I did buy the first figure in this line, and I am quite pleased with it, of course, I did ditch the AK-47 for a AK-74M and replaced the M37 pistol with a Tokarev TT-33 (I may switch it to a Makarov once I get one), so the 2.0 version will most likely be something I will get as well and will do a similar swap of weapons.

@ZeroDelta, may i ask why does the Pistole above have a trigger-like protrusion at the base?
I googled it and it says its a "finger rest"?
My first time to see such design and my 1st thought was it's for stabbing.

The pistol is a Hungarian FÉG 37M Pistol: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%89G_37M_Pistol

The finger rest is part of the actual Magazine of he pistol and is there, because of the short grip the weapon has, seeing as its chambered in.32 ACP. I managed to break mine off, because the magazine sits in the weapon really tightly.

Both the M37 pistol and the S&W Revolver that come with those sets, are stand-ins for the Tokarev TT-33 and the Mosin Revolver, both of which you can get from other manufacturers, like Alert Line. The AK is not too bad, but its a very stock AK-47 without any frills.

It's funny how the two dominant communist governments used a similar abbreviation.

CCP: Chinese
CCCP: Soviet.

Well spotted and interesting. But the coincidence is a little bit stretched: CCP is an English acronym with Latin characters (for "Chinese Communist Party"), while CCCP is a Russian acronym with Cyrillic characters (for "Союз Советских Социалистических Республик"). Moreover, the acronyms also refer to different types of formations -- the one is a political party, the other is a federated country.

Such an odd design. Thanks for the info, ZD.

I agree with Annalise on that drop off from promo to production. I remember getting that Han Mei Mei because I liked the look. But that head was totally different. And that body was not so good

In English it is usually interpreted as "Central Committee of the Communist Party" but it doesn't really reflect its true nature. If we transliterated Союз Советских Социалистических Республик into English, it would be Sojúz Sovétskix Socialistíčeskix Respúblik (SSSR), which translates as Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics.

Well, that sounds like special plading. ЦК КПСС is the "Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviety Union," not just the "Central Committee of the Communist Party." The English translation would yield the abbreviation CCCPSU.

I this this release is very justified as this looks like a completely different figure to me. Katyusha with her white hair and black costume and forceful expression looked like a cliché villain straight from a movie or video game.
This release feels much more realistic to clueless me. I think the expression is waaaay too soft for a military officer though.

I think this is spot on, even if the differences are, in a sense, shallow.

I think about getting both and changing their coats.

I totally agree with this sentiment. Diana is absolutely right that the the differences do make a difference. I agree that the nuances make the first one (which I got) more dramatic/exaggerated while v. 2 seems more realistic, though they still go well together. One nitpick though: I really wish they'd varied or mixed up the medals since a perfect duplication, if you put the two together, seems unlikely and off-putting.

Good call about the medals, MBAM.

I agree there with annalise that there seems to be quite a bit of recycling here. The hair looks a bit weird to me on this new one. It kinda poofs upward? Kinda like it doesn't sit properly on the sculpt. Anyway, that's just my nitpick heh.

I like the green uniform and less severe head sculpt of version 2.0 to go with my female "warriors" and their sometimes scanty combat uniforms.  I would nitpick the weapons though.  Why include what looks like a Colt Police Positive .38 like my grandfather used to carry and why is the scope and mount for the SVD rendered in silver rather than black or camo?  Also, it's very unlikely that an officer would be issued a sniper rifle, although they might borrow one now and then from one of the enlisted guys.  A more modern and tricked out AK would be a great addition.
