Honestly, I could never even figure out how to get my photos from my iMac to Flickr. It says drag and drop... well, that didn’t do a thing. So after messing with that stupid site for about an hour I gave up. I’ll see what Google photos is like.

Signature not working.

Welcome aboard. I have enabled signatures in the overall settings, but I don't understand why they do not seem to be working.

For signatures to work, you have to create them (signature tab in your profile) and also to check a box in the preferences settings (preferences tab) for your profile: click on the "yes" box next to "Always attach my signature."

FAQ: To add a signature to a post you must first create one; this is done via your profile. Once created you can check the Add Signature box on the posting form to add your signature. You can also add a signature by default to all your posts by checking the appropriate radio box in your profile. You can still prevent a signature being added to individual posts by un-checking the add signature box on the posting form.

Signatures are not being saved.

I edited my signature.
Looked at preview - looks fine
Saved signature - looks fine
Went out to home page and back into Profile
Clicked on Signature tab - all gone.

Well, I doubt it would help, but my signature is saved, it just refuses to appear in posts.

Is there some sort of time restriction? Some sites won't let you add signatures until you have been registered for a certain number of days.

I am not sure. Everything the FAQ said about signatures I posted above, and I saw no other reference to signatures besides what I mentioned.

I wonder if the first dozen members joining this group will be referred to as "The OSF Dirty Dozen" or something catchy/worthy and we all have nick names?

I suppose the "Founding Fathers" will be too clean-sounding for you. Wink But the forum has me labeled as "Founder." I have to act older and wiser now.

That has a bunch of different meanings. For example, in French it means "boss," while in America this is how we referred to library users when I worked at a library.

All in all humble and simple beginnings with members who know one another.

It's like one of us starting up our own bar and inviting a few acquaintances to get a feel for the place and slowly spread the word and build up a clientele.

Asides from signatures not working, I guess it's about working with what works and eventually addressing what is not, etc.

No ads here (thus far).

Well, I am not getting paid (as far as I know), so there are no ads. In due time, I figure we should invite some of the more reputable stores in our hobby to provide product announcements, but I will wait on your suggestions.

BTW it is a lot of work to set something like this up - just letting you know that it is appreciated.

Well, thanks to someone’s bone-head advice over at OSW, now I’m in the same boat as a lot of people and can’t login without constantly changing passwords. I’m done over there. Apparently those tech-nerds don’t have a clue what they’re doing. Or ... maybe they do, and this is their way of closing the doors once and for all. Too bad. I hope more folks find their way over here.

Ouch, what was the advice? In my case, I had to restart my computer (for a different reason), which meant having to log in again, and then, sure enough, the password problem others were complaining about was my problem too.

You can't post external links for seven days. My signature had a link to my Etsy store.
