Elf Pirate with a cool base?  Smile

Normally yay, but I think the clothes look kinda cheap. So not for me.

LOL, I think it's a very nice offering if you like that sort of thing. Cute face, nice base... in line with their other offerings.

That’s what I was thinking. The accessories are nice, and the base is cool, but the figure just doesn’t do it for me.

Elf Pirate? Enough said. Two fun things put together are not always an improvement. Then again, I was never particularly besotted with either of these two things. I agree, it is nicely done, but doesn't do much for me. Now, a more believable pirate and (separately) a more traditional elf, that might be another thing...

I appreciate that I may be over-thinking a stylized ship, that after all has a pirate elf on it.  But is that base a bow or a stern?  If I saw this on my shelf it would bug me constantly.  Most everything says Stern:  the way the ship's body and the railing rise up, the lit cabin underneath, and the curvature rather than pointyness of the ship generally, and of the figurehead angel specifically; and obviously the presence of the Wheel in the first place.  But then, how is the Helm is facing backwards?  Also, give props to whichever bounty agent of the King managed to post up a Wanted $1,000,000 (yes, Dollars?) poster right on the main mast of the Captain's own ship.

Razz You're not alone in your confusion! I wasted more minutes than I should have looking at that stylized mess of a display base, trying to figure out if it was the bow, stern, or a stylized upper deck cabin. I concluded it's none of the above -- just a mish-mash of "ship shaped sh***... errr, stuff" intended to offer a vaguely nautical impression.

Well, the captain or one of her crew might have brought the poster on board for amusement purposes. What bothers me is the absurd amount of the reward. Rewards for pirates would have been offered in pound sterling, or maybe francs, not dollars. The reward for the notorious pirate Blackbeard in the early 1700s was only one-hundred... hundred, not million or thousand... pounds( £100).

That is what I assumed, too. Well, if you can have an elf pirate captain with a front-to-back ship, why not a modern bounty, too?

As an aside, bounty amounts etc. are typically a problem for period movies, particularly Westerns. If they ignore inflation the amounts are astronomically high.  Conversely any historically accurate amounts may be laughed at for sounding small.  Take the example of the Mel Gibson film Maverick, with a $500,000 Poker game where the plot mainly concerns our hero raising a $25,000 buy-in.  Assuming the film is set in 1887, those equivalent amounts should have been something like a $16,000 prize, with a $750 buy-in. But the inability to raise $750 wouldn’t have seemed serious.  So they’ve got cowboy gamblers supposedly buying in around $800,000 to play poker for a prize equivalent to $16,000,000.00. With our elf captain, they really could have easily avoided that problem by using a currency others than "Dollars." which makes the otherwise logical scene of an elf captain on a ship with a mechanically impossible rudder seem ever so slightly unrealistic.

True, about the amounts. Perhaps the screenwriters could throw in a line that puts the (historically plausible) amount into perspective -- as in, I could buy 20 horses for that, or whatever (since horses are not something most people are concerned with buying today).

That would be an alternate pirate, not an elf.

I know the title of this post is already really long, but would it be possible for an Admin or Moderator to add the word Elsa to the title?

Both Giantoy and BigBadToyStore call this figure Captain Elsa, not Aisha. Adding Elsa would make this topic more searchable... maybe. I mean... within the limitations of the Forumotion search function.

Done. I had missed it, but as a stage version Jepasch's pirate seems more believable...
