I bet this would be a big opportunity for those of us doing WWI stuff. But I'm sure the head not being included would be a let down. I mean, how could one find a head so quintessentially French (for that period)?

yes, a shame the head is not included, but I love this set. With some very minor amendments, could easily make this into French Foreign Legion, which is my interest, and definitely upgrade to the Sideshow one, which is the only one, besides Action Man, that did it. Keeping an eye on this, as very interested. Foreign Legion would be easier, as could use any of the bearded sculpts that are out now

Ok, tragic trivia time: The war minister who wanted to replace the ridiculously outdated and visible red blue uniforms with khaki/grey ones was killed 1911 in an air show before he could get through the reform. (Prime minister was also injured)
So the reform was abandoned, because style was more important for many politicians.

Of course the red could be seen anywhere and many died for that. I think the soldiers even made some kind of overcoat for the caps to hide the red fabric.

But yeah it's very stylish. Head looks great, anyone has a source? And mustache heads are  rare, I agree.

Interesting background, Ovy. Thanks.
