1/6 scale chess set

Just bought one of these mini chess sets and it is pretty cool. It is made entirely from die cast metal with a sticker for the checkerboard. It is advertised as 1:12 scale but it is a better fit for 1:6. There are a lot of resellers on ebay but this is the cheapest atm.

I agree, it is a very neat item. My only wish for improvement is that they went with a more classical coloring scheme or made it available as an option.

There is a small seam running around each piece, which is most noticeable on the bottom. I had to hit the bottom of each piece with a Dremel grinding drum so that they would sit flat.

The bottom of the board has a lip that I figured would be perfect for the lid of a box. Turned out well. Made it from some popsicle sticks.

Rules for Ogre Chess:

1. Flip board
2. Punch opponent in face
3. See how many pieces you can shove up his nose.

Excellent chess boards. I like the ones you two made personally. $700 bucks for that one on eBay is ridiculous.

That's a pretty cool set. A couple years ago, I picked up a set parted out from the Star Ace Ron Weasley figure. It's a large feeling set though. More 1/5ish. I like it though as it's based on the famous Isle of Lewis chess pieces.

It could just be considered a large set. I have a Nautical themed set where the King is nearly 5 1/2” tall. A 26”x26” (with borders) board.

So cool! Been considering picking one of these up whenever I see on ebay. For more traditional colors, seems like something a little spray paint would solve real quick. And I love the added storage box underneath. Looks perfect.

Ephaine, yours is stunning, as well as both of those shots. I wouldn't want to try to teach an ogre to play chess either.

Each piece is hand carved from pieces of graphite and then hand painted.

Although there is something like a standard chess set size (I'm sure there are regulations about it), chess sets do exist in different sizes, so this could work for sixth-scale, in a way.
