Figma SP-108 Alien Takayuki Takeya Version

Summary:

Pros: Very beautiful design that stays true to the Giger original, highly posable, nice facehugger accessory, good inner mouth functionality, decent tail mechanics.

Cons: No chestburster or egg accessories to complete it, upper body articulation could use a bit more range.

A tad macabre, but nice that you were able to think this up right away.

I realized some of you here are from the UK, suddenly I felt the horror of importation taxes! I heard those taxes can drive decently priced items into "what the hell just happened!?" prices

Oh yeah, here are some size comparisons with other Figuarts and Figma toys (and Popeye, too!) The alien on the right is the old Monsterarts version. Its posability is more limited due to how the legs seem to connect deep into the hip area. So are the Monsterarts hands and arms. The only thing that Monsterarts beats Figma in terms of posability is the ability to do a better "ab-crunch".

Hmm. Interesting. Either Popeye is rather tall, or both those Aliens are too short. If I recall, the Alien was played by a really tall fellow.

Hmm, they're a lot smaller than I was expecting. I thought it was proper 1/12 scale, turns out it's not. Not sure I can justify the price now. I quite liked the NECA one and it was a good size, might track one down sometime.
