This is based on the scene in Avengers when Tony returns to Stark Tower and has his armour removed while walking through the ever changing Annular Gantry system and talking to JARVIS with his earpiece about meeting Pepper Potts for dinner. Since I had built a custom Pepper Potts as Rescue (comic book version but using Gwyneth Paltrow's HS to keep it movie related), I decided it would be apt for her to turn up to meet Tony in her armour that she had been training with. Video below shows the movie scene with the Annular Gantry:
The builds themselves were all heavy mods of existing products, I created my armour removal MKVI from a HC Toys KO that needed to be rebuilt from the inside out with a dremel, hacksaw, files etc.. also needed a new paint job and head. The exposed inner armour layers and removed armour parts were also created by me with various mods to the original parts, he has some scratch built accessories too like the earpiece and tumbler of whisky (not movie accurate but I felt he needed a drink ). The Gantry is solid resin and made by TYS Toys but came with only four non articulated arms and lousy LED lighting, I articulated the four arms then made eight more articulated ones, they are all attached by magnets and interchangeable with each other. I also added all the blue EL-Wire, made trapdoors and a figure stand for the floor then repainted it all black instead of the non movie accurate light grey it was. I built Rescue by doing a bunch of mods to a brilliantly articulated and well made Ultra Man figure (contains die-cast too) by Dimension Studio & Eastern Models, such as changing the feet, hands, pelvic armour and head. I made a custom faceplate for her inspired by the comics and contorted the armoured body's articulation to give her a feminine figure. You can see the build thread in the link below. This photo shoot wasn't easy but I got it done in the end, I had to turn off Tony's Arc Reactor light for many of the pictures as it is just too bright for the camersa to deal with, in real life it looks really sharp depicting all the details of it's design .
Build thread link for all 3 builds
Some clearer pics of of the complete modified & repainted HC Toys MKVI:
Better idea of the full Gantry's size:
Many of the parts needed and made for this display:
THE END.
