Those kinds of muscle cuirasses were never used in Greece. Some Roman aristocrats used them. The most historically accurate combination would be this helmet and the armour from the other figure.

Are you sure about never? Although I agree that the muscle cuirasses came in fairly late (and I suspect were used rarely and for members of the elite), therefore possibly not overlapping with Corinthian helmets (unless someone was using one as a heirloom). Otherwise the less gaudy paint detail (or lack of such) makes me be less skeptical of this set, which also appears to be a resurrection or slight reiteration of an ACI one. But I'm happy with more hoplites anytime. Judging by the Teutonic Knight (or "Knight Teutonic" -- I blame the "Knights Templar") figure, of which I just ordered one, these might be less pricey than the ACI ones.

"When I said "those kinds", I was referring to the absurd level of muscling on the armour. Real Greek muscle cuirasses were far more subtle.






Some had a little more detail but not in Greece, and they were never as exaggerated as above. This style was used in Italy.

Ok, yes, I see what you mean. They are a little more subtle and a little less massive. But these guys aren't for subtlety, and (at the risk of sounding unkind) they are almost certainly reusing existing stuff as a basis for making their own. Which, again, I don't mind, because it still gives us a product to play with. But I agree that some more attention to detail and accuracy would have been very nice.
