Dragon’s Lair, created by the legendary animator Don Bluth, was unleashed in arcades in 1983 and featured the most advanced graphics of its time, by far. The game was incredibly challenging to master, and was notably the first game to charge 50¢ per credit. Now, New Wave Toys is creating the ultimate collector's edition replica machine in 1/6th PlayScale

Our Dragon’s Lair x RepliCade cabinet is constructed of premium wood, plastic and die-cast metal, and features a custom, second-screen scoreboard just like the original arcade machine!

RepliCade Amusements feature authentic arcade ROMs as originally released in the full-sized arcade cabinets. Our Dragon’s Lair cabinet is no exception! It runs the original Laserdisc game on the Daphne emulator, and features all of the diabolical yet rewarding difficulty you remember from the arcade release.

BONUS Mini Laserdisc Player Replica!

And because Dragon's Lair ran on Laserdisc, we had to include this replica 1/6 scale first gen Laserdisc player as well! This 1/6 PlayScale reproduction comes complete with removable mini remote and is stored in a Rear Cabinet Storage Drawer.

The cabinet itself looks great and I love the second display screen. The bonus laser-disc player looks pretty neat.

I own their other 1:6 arcade consoles but I'm going to give this one a miss. I disliked the original game for several reasons. It cost twice as much to play as any other game at the time and it was so hard to learn that it cost a fortune to progress to any meaningful level. Even as a kid I worked out pretty quickly that it was a scam. The game basically required you to memorise a sequence of joystick movements for each scene. There was no skill involved; you just had to keep feeding money into it till you worked out the sequence. Then you progressed to the next scene and had to start all over again. It had fancy graphics but the gameplay was crap.

I scored a pirate copy on the Amiga a few years later and played it till I got all the way to the end. The graphics were great for the time and I wanted to see what I was missing out on in the arcade. But it confirmed for me how bad the game was. After that I formatted the disc and never played the game again.

I'd like to collect their whole range but this one just rubs me the wrong way. It would be annoying-frustrating-not-fun to see it on display.

That’s pretty cool. I actually played that game — it seemed so advance at a time when PAC Man and Centipede were the norm.

As cool as it is, I sucked at that game! I couldn't even get across the first bridge!

I hear you on that; that's why I waited for the computer game version -- even then, since it was designed for arcades, you still couldn't go all the way through without dying several times. (Which is probably why I gave up on Arcade games -- they're like casinos, designed to eat your money, and only rarely let you win).

Everyone sucked at the game. It was deliberately designed like that.

Wouldn't be surprised if it spawned cheats.

It did spawn a cheat book — but if I recall it was still difficult to get them to work.

They are also working on Asteroids, which is a game I would be more interested in.

I'd love one of the original wireframe Battlezone.
