During his travels they are joined by teenaged mathematical genius Adric. Whilst Romana and K9 stayed behind in E-Space, the Doctor and Adric departed for N-Space. £269.99 is $351. For that kind of money I want better than this. The likeness is ok but not good enough. The hair is molded, too high, and poorly painted. The neck is too long. The scarf is crap - they can't even cut a straight edge. The hat shouldn't look like painted plastic.




The headsculpt is a better likeness than their original one but I prefer the first costume.

I agree, Dan. It’s my understanding that the sculpts are place-holders, and they plan to improve them — but it IS Big Chief, and most of their final products have a sort of flat caricature look to them. Tom is my favorite Dr., and I would have gotten this had it been the first costume — but that price; add shipping and this would be a $400 figure. I have yet to see anything from BCS to justify the prices they ask. If it’s still around by the time they start offering deals, and the final product is improved, I might consider it — but it’s not likely since I already have the first Tom version.

I really want a Tom Baker Dr. Who but have yet to see anything worth buying.

I've seen several other custom headsculpts of this character which, while not perfect, are probably still preferable to this one.

Those are the original heads but painted by Darren Carnall. It can just be bad factory paint that spoils BCS figures, however, they are overpriced and Darren can't paint all of them!

Those are definitely some of the ones I was thinking of, though I think there have other custom versions too? Either way, I feel like this is a character who would look neat with real hair — no matter how good the sculpt, the sculpted hair always looks sculpted on this one.

Yep, Roger's examples were better -- the set is not quite there, and especially the smiling head seems pretty bad to me. I wouldn't have been particularly interested to begin with, but at that price, you got to be kidding.
