Man! How many is this now? I get this movie is popular, but I don’t get it myself. Sad-sack, whiny Joker is not my idea of the Joker — nor is it the idea of his creators. I don’t get this need of modern-day Hollywood to make every character a pathetic loser who we’re supposed to feel sorry for.

I can't speak to the rendition of the character in the media, but the set looks stunning (and I say that although I have no particular love of clowns).

But he overcomes it by becoming the Joker! That's WHY he becomes the Joker. It's takes something big to turn someone into that.
And I think it's good to remind people that behind every psycho and every (censored) and... there is a story. Potentially and probably a tragic one. I think this movie has the potential of making people think twice before condemning such "losers" and adding more hurt by bullying, ostracizing, etc.

I hated the movie. And I can't stand his face either in this movie.

I honestly loved the movie on its own, I found it was a beautiful character's rise and fall, and a great satire of our time and society (Guy Debord's Society of the Spectacle is now our daily reality...)
In fact I found it so good I was kinda disappointed it was related to Batman's universe, this movie is such an original piece and statement it was not needed.

That's where I agree with you guys, it is not the Joker as I like him, it has nothing to do with the Gotham city and characters I like...
In fact I quite don't like how Hollywood doesn't stand for any political or society questioning movie unless it is branded Marvel, DC, or such... This movie is great, but it doesn't need to be disguised in a super hero or villain movie, it actually loses a lot of value this way. People might pass because it is supposedly about batman and the joker, while it's not at all, and Joker's fans might be disappointed by this very serious rendition of the character.

This said the set looks epic, while very specific so I don't know what I would do with any part of it, I find it awesomely done and staged!

I haven't seen the film, but I think there's room for both 'comic book' style and 'serious' interpretations of these kinds of characters. Just because a more serious version of the story exists doesn't mean the other is erased, and vice versa. I also think it's perhaps interesting to explore class issues in the context of these well known American pop culture stories, since imo 'class' is something most people in the US seem to believe isn't an issue.

While I'm not overly keen on this particular look, since I don't much like clowns, lol, I am interested to see how the other figures of this version of the Joker turn out. : )

Ignoring current 'official' Star Wars content for my own sanity.
