While I liked he poofy look, this now looks much more believable and life like. Very nice!

Thank you, I'm glad you agree.

Will you be doing a history (myth?) version of Thor with this?

Maybe one day. For now, I've done this, most recently updated in the TBLeague M35 body review (HERE). Some samples --

Thank you very much, glad you liked them. Yes, I suppose that one turned out most epic. And, if any of this were historical, it has a good chance of being so, given how far back in time it would have been. If Thor were 6th-century (AD) or so, the red tunic might be accurate, at least in terms of contemporary artistic representations of divine military figures. The helmet is based on a couple of actual ceremonial headgear pieces found in Denmark, but maybe from an even older period. All this is pre-Viking, by the way.

It looks great, the hair is quite realistic, it's all that I won't be able to achieve.  Smile

Considering my little experience, it would seem to me that a hair sculpting only works with short hair, and you just made it very clear to me. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Thank you very much, Dweller, glad you liked it, and agree. But I don't think you have to put yourself down -- if I could do it, so could you. In case you gives you inspiration and (in some cases) how-to tips, here are some links to some of my previous re-hairing projects:

Thank you very much, I was thinking of asking you for tutorials, but I didn't want to be a hassle either.
Btw quickly looking at the links, let me congratulate you on these well-accomplished projects.

You are very welcome -- and thanks. I think the most detailed tutorial is with the Arnie head, and I got confused with the labeling of the numbers of the steps -- I can't count! -- but the photos and commentary appear in the right order. Hope they help.

I loved "fat Thor" and his shtick and you captured that look perfectly! I still haven't yet rehaired any head but the more I see others' results the more I'm tempted, but then laziness intervenes!

I think you already settled on a hair product solution, but there is actually a product created for dolls. It's the Dollfie line of products by Volks: shampoo, spray, and "water wax". They are all fantastic, and not too expensive (you don't need much so it lasts a long time): https://volksusastore.com/webstores/dollfie/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=300

Wow, thanks for this tip, tankgirlfuzzy! I've been looking for the perfect 'liquid wax' to use on the tibetan lamb hair, and this could be it!

ETA: Though here it does caution that the 'mist' might not be good to use on mohair:

Don't know about the water wax. So far the only examples I saw were it being used on synthetic hair, which is still very helpful because synthetic hair is generaly really messy and ugly, so it should still come in handy for that, if nothing else.

You're welcome, hope it comes in handy. You're right, I didn't check to see if those would be good for natural wool/hair, but they're great on synthetic, which obviously is what gets mass produced.

One thing I do with almost all my doll hair is restyle it, sometimes with a complete cut. I usually can't stand the huge curls and blunt chopped off look that they come out of the box with, but cutting it well is very laborious. I basically apply 1:1 hairstyling/cutting techniques to thin out the hair.

I did it with my Eowyn and Brunnhilde. Once you wash and cut it, you need to use this type of product to restyle it or it will look like a disaster!

Oh, I bet that looked great!

But yeah...this is a huge pet peeve of mine as well. I greatly dislike most 1/6 scale synthetic factory rooted hair. Some companies are getting much better at doing it these days, but they only seem to get it right when the hair is styled in a braid, or cut shorter and thinned out in the manner you describe. When it's just that giant wavy/curly look I can't freaking stand it. It's like nails on chalkboard to my eyes. Not solely because it looks ugly, but also because it totally ruins the scale. It seems like such a ridiculous waste to put out 'realistic' headsculpts on realistic bodies, but with poofy, fake-looking synthetic hair that never lies flat but sticks up on end and looks like the hair on a doll a little kid's been dragging around for while.

I absolutely looooove beautiful high-end doll hair (whether synthetic or natural fibers), so it just really annoys me how cheap and tacky, and well, just plain unrealistic certain common 1/6 hairstyles can be.

Oh, and the reason I brought up the tibetan lamb hair is that it's what GubernatorFan was using for this Fat Thor figure, and didn't want anyone to just assume it would definitely work for that kind of fiber. I'm thinking it might be best to test the Dolfie stuff on natural fibers prior to trying it out. But definitely seems great for helping to tame that overly voluminous synthetic rooted hair.
