LMAO, my thoughts exactly -- the black knight is evil Christian Bale.

Nice that they are adding real chainmail - probalby as deluxe edition then, because chainmail is at least $100 extra normally.

Like both, especially the Vlad - but I'm not too keen on the evil vampiric face, looks a bit... rough, but nothing a repaint couldn't fix

Dang, CooModel makes some amazing figures. I loved the "medievil Christian Bale's Batman".
I also think the monster HS needs a bit more polishing, cuz it looks a bit rough for a USD370 figure.

Dang, good remark! That's more realistic, given it is already in preOrder and the real chainmail would also take some time to produce. So eh, not that important to me with the fabric then.

I knew this one would be above $300 with all the extras, but the Vampire head isn't so stunnic. Umm, maybe I will pass then

The Dragon Knight is also more than 300 Dollar - makes me think this is really chain mail and not fabric. Otherwise this would be quiet an unbelievable price increase compared to the other coomodel knights.

We'll have to wait and see. It could be that something has gotten lost in the translation. Though perhaps the higher price is just for the extra head, wings, etc? The image of the chainmail is too small to tell.

I don't collect these, but boy do they look pretty awesome! When they say alloy, they mean diecast right? I recall these figures using metal for most of their armor and being fairly heavy.

In terms of inspiration, besides a completely random fantasy character, Vladal III/"Black Knight" is rather obviously meant to be/channels Vlad III Draculea. As in Vlad the Impaler (the historical prototype of Dracula), son of Vlad II Dracul ("the Dragon," i.e., "he of the Dragon Order"), both princes of Wallachia in the 15th century. Witness the dragon crest on the tunic, standard, and shield. Looks like another fantasy mixed with a pinch of history. While "Vladal" is obviously derived from "Vlad," if this is supposed to reflect "Dracula," then the "Silver Knight" can be a reference to Dracula's relative by marriage, sometime-overlord, sometime-ally, and sometime-rival, King Matyas I Hunyadi of Hungary, nicknamed Corvinus ("the Crow"). Witness the crow crest on his tunic and standard. Neither crest is entirely accurate in historical terms, but at least the inspiration for these sets are traceable.

Awesome ressearch and input Gub, thanks a lot, it totally makes sense for that double release, and makes it even more interesting! (the minor upgrade I'd ask is they make a different shield for the Corvinus guy so he doesn't sport the same dragon as vlad)

I can put one of my Famiglia Ducale Knights on a scales - he should be very very similar to the silver Dragon night in terms of armor.

I think i will get the Dracul - hits both my liking for Knights as well as Fantasy and horror

Thank you very much, I'm glad I've been informative. And I agree, it is actually a pretty cool idea for a double release, might have been even cooler if they explained the rationale behind the figures. And also that they would have done better to give them distinct shields, as you noted. Although we are talking second half of the 15th century, I can't help the feeling that the armor is just a tad too modern for east-central Europe. But it is certainly stunning and not out of the realm of what would be plausible. I have their famiglia ducale knight (or was it his counterpart?), and he is excellent. But the metal pieces (and they were not all metal) do make him very heavy and difficult to pose and especially balance. I have him displayed on his stand (precariously!) and have rarely done anything with him. Except maybe this, with a head substitution from fireman Chad:

As for these CooModel figures... I wish I could pick up both. But while Matyas is pretty pricey, Vlad is pretty insane -- and all this for an extra vampire head and a couple of other accessories I don't care about? While making figures that go with each other is a great idea, I'm not sure it works well with these higher prices. Looks like I will have to settle for some parted-out pieces if I get lucky.

If you hit the right time on ebay, you csn always snag some decent priced parts of coo figures. Just a few weeks ago the se065 to se071 were released and i snagged some parts for kitbashing. Just a few days later the prices seem to increase then and later will often stay expensive. Like a pair of trousers plus gambeson for 14 dollar is ok. Later you often find the gambeson for 20...without trousers. Or 25 for both.
Same for armory. But i guess you know these market mechanism of our hobby on ebay

That ducale knight should get more praise in general though. It is a great piece and for like 80 less than this dragon knight on release...
