I'm sure this is based on something popular in its own right and that it does justice to the look, but I can't help but think "Mighty Morphin Power Ranger."

Pretty sure this si from a Super Sentai series you know, where Power Rangers come from. Japan has a ton of Super Sentai Shows, but I would not know what series this figure is from.
