Haha, nice one. A mix of Rambo, Jango and that guy who fought a predator with a knife and torch. They hinted this figure when they showed Echo. Who knows if they do all of them? If I was HotToys I would make zhem all$$$

I like that armor, I think it is mostly based on that Republic Commando game I played...15 years ago, wtf.

Fun fact: when he goes undercover/civilian he keeps his iconic headband. The hair still looks animated, though.

"Rambo Trooper" for sure. But, yeah, he does sort of look like the late Sonny Landham.

I probably said it about Echo, too, but I'm so glad I'm not a Star Wars collector, despite loving the frachise. These looks great and I'd want them all. ^^

I'll definitely need to catch up on the series. Is it good? Probably is. I haven't seen anything Star Wars or Marvel related coming out of Disney that wasn't highly enjoyable.

Is that the new one you preordered, Mark? When you adapt him to your purposes you could do Ovy proud and name him Rango or Jambo Smile Nice set. Probably because these are rooted in clone troopers, rather than anything in the Sequel Trilogy, I rather like these, looks-wise.

I like that these characters are at the beginning of the Imperial era, and since their armour is already battle worn they could be a unit still operating in the classic OT period, especially with their helmets on.

I also like that each character has a unique appearance, rather than the uniformity of a clone or stormtrooper unit.

Together, these guys could be anything you want in the OT era - a criminal gang, a group of mercenaries, bounty hunters, etc.

While I will probably not be investing in them (though who knows, I reconstituted a Mandalorian), I agree completely. One or two of these characters could be put to good use in any spin off fiction.

Yes, indeed. This is the guy I recently POd. Him and his “brother” Echo will be joining my group of mercenaries/renegades.

Cool, I was wondering if you got Echo too. I'm sure they will be great additions. Heck, maybe even in Jabba's throne room. Smile

These figures actually deepen my enjoyment of the Bad Batch series (they would do more so if they were in hand) because they visually flesh out and fill in the character's appearance beyond the simplified/stylized look of the animation designs. Once I've seen these figures, then my eyeballs bring that added detail to looking at the show. Maybe that's just me.

Certainly the design process of translating that animation style into these more realistic figures calls for something creative from HT more than normally required to turn live movie characters SW, MCU or DCU into figures, and it's done well. I wonder whether that aspect is handled at the Disney design end, or if it's left to the HT sculptors to implement. If it is the latter I suspect Disney probably micromanages every detail in the approvals process. The results are excellent.

I take it the series is another D+ thing?

Well it has some very high production value. I think it started great with the first episode/pilot/order 66, which was much longer than the 20+ min episodes.

The other three guys of the team are a superbrainy tech nerd, a simple minded but incredibly strong (at least m35) giant and Cloned Eastwood with a Sniper Rifle. All very cliché but ok.

Echo is quite the seasoned character actually from the Clone Wars series.

Well I will spoiler some Clone Wars now.

He first appeared as some random rookie clone on a backwater planet , somehow handling an overwhelmingly dangerous situation and came out the only survivor along his friend Fives. They were fleshed out in multiple episodes. They later became some ARC elite spec ops troopers. I think these two were the first 1/6 clones with faces and expression heads, by Sideshow.
Echo seemingly died on a mission to save young Tarkin and that pink, one eyed Yoda Jedi thingie guy, but was actually captured and horribly experimented on with cyborg technology by separatists. He was later found disfigured and with robotic implants by the bad batch guys which he joined, cyborg freak that he now was.

His friend Fives found out about order 66 plans and some dark secrets, and was killed.

The series touches some interesting topics like the new structuring of the new empire, replacement/discarding of clones, deserters, establishment of stormtrooper and ethical/moral stuff like killing of unarmed refugees (ordered by Tarkin ).
It's a bit formulatic and there is one slightly annoying child character, but I think there will be a lot of development like in the other series. I would prefer watching this with my brothers kids rather then Paw Patrol (glad they grew out of it) or Spirit the horse. ;P

Rango, really?

Or Coco Jambo? You put me through Britney, so now you will have to listen to some classical Eurodance.

Well, who would have thought Rango and Jambo were already names...? Oh well, an hour of more and more yahoo music videos later, I stand corrected. Euro dance was positively excruciating. Just kidding. Smile

Under “normal” circumstances, I wouldn’t either. But since the two that have recently been announced don’t really remind me of what we’ve seen (or at least what I’VE seen), I can pretend there is no connection to anything outside my own Star Wars universe. Plus, as you say, this guy (and Echo) turned out pretty cool. Since Gubernatorfan teased a Darth Stryker (which inspired me to start on this journey), I feel compelled to fill out the ranks of other characters to go with him.

Since I'm getting "blamed," I thought I'd illustrate: this is Darth Stryker (more photos in the very photo heavy Emperor Palpatine and Throne review HERE, I think) --

Nope! Not just you. Smile
But weren't they also in a video game? I thought that's where the more realistic interpretation comes from, but I actually don't know.

Thank you, Ovy, for the little review. Smile
... Now I want to catch up on Clone Wars, too!
