My best guess is, that this figure is based on the "Young and Dangerous" series of crime/action movies that deal with young Triad Criminals and their lives and adventures.

Hmmm... I don't know about mysterious but certainly not ancient. Interesting that they chose to create four different looks of the same character, although it is great they are all part of the same set, as opposed to separate ones. The figure actually looks quite good, although a seamless body might have been a better choice. This one doesn't look bad, but there are too many exposed joints and apparently no ab crunch.
