The origin of all preceding Iron Man, Mark I was manually crafted by Tony Stark from limited resources found in the cave, including pieces of scrap metal and machine parts, as part of the plan to escape from the terrorists. Taking fans back to the beginning where it all started, Hot Toys is extremely thrilled today to present a diecast version of your favorite superhero in his very first generation of Iron Man armor!
The stunningly detailed 1/6th scale Iron Man Mark I collectible figure is crafted based on the first suit, features a newly painted helmeted head sculpt of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark; highly-accurate Mark I armor parts made in diecast material with real wires and cables attached showcases armor’s complexity; multiple layers of steel-like painting in metallic silver and bronze to modify texture and weathering effects; LED light-up functions on Arc Reactor and forearm; highly-accurate engine motor on the back with rotary design simulating a running engine; the iconic weapon Flamethrower and effect accessories to recreate scenes from the movie; and a themed diorama base enhancing the collection experience.    
Furthermore, a SPECIAL EDITION of this Iron Man figure offers an additional raw metal diecast Mark I helmet as the bonus accessory only available in selected markets!

Might have to get this one. Never got the first one. Probably will pay through the nose compared to the first one. But the articulation looks way better though. Okay, I'm IN!

Got a while to decide on this hehe, it's scheduled for April 2023, assuming no delays haha. Think i have to go through SS to get the special edition stuff.

Well, there is the Diecast factor which certainly constitutes an upgrade. The diecast may assist that greater articulation, though I confess, despite owning a couple of them, that I don't really know what "diecast" means precisely where it applies to a HT figure and especially, the internal components. I know that I hear it as gospel that it makes for greater durability on the joints over time but I'm not actually sure that's true -- plastic has a marginal compress/expand resiliency that may keep up friction support over time better than metal. I haven't worked mine enough to know. I do admit the HT diecasts have a very satisfying heft, and boy, you won't want to drop this one on your foot.

I think I saw a picture but for this particular figure, most of the diecast is in the plates instead of like other iron men inside the legs. I'll try to find that picture.

I appreciate the warning about the dropping on the foot.

This looks pretty cool. But, I would expect it to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $500+ (especially since the Dr. Strange IM is $440).

Gorgeous, and at least so distinctive from the tons of variations they have produced or reissued. Yet I feel like they've done this (or something like it) already.

$455 USD. Better than I thought, but still high — and a Sideshow exclusive, so expect to receive a vicious assault on shipping.

For me it is a great figure (only MK1 I own is the 1:6 KO of the original HT plastic MK1) so this will definitely be an upgrade. My issue is monies. I will probably skip it simply because there is so much other stuff I want more and it is just so expensive.
