Yeah sometimes it is just too much beauty and detail crammed into one moment or picture.

Btw, European style Samurai armor is called Nanban Gusoku, meaning Southern Barbarian armor. (Nanban describing all that barbaric (censored) that came from the west) The European steel and design was better in protecting against shots. The Japanese later adopted the techniques, they crafted armors of European design called Wasei Nanban Do. Of course I just happen to know all of this without any research at all. I like how the internet makes me appear smart.

Good to know. I know you have researched samurai armor before, so I'm not surprised you have come across such things. I knew they adopted some European pieces via trade from the Portuguese, and since these came by ship from the south, southern barbarians makes sense.
One gets smart by learning, and clearly you have done that.

First photos (source bbicn). The face is much more "nice" than that of the prototype. I really like the light weathering on the armor, which is consistent with that of the expo model, unlike the Coomodel brand, which offers to add one to its promotional photos, and not to the pieces that come out.
I bought this samurai, which is, to this day, and which I think will remain so, the most expensive piece in my collection, all brands combined...

He came out great. I got some of the parted out pieces, mostly from the more "civilian" set.
