Holy cow you've gotten so good at this! They all look fantastic and if I try to point anything out my mind goes "but that guy looked just as good! And THAT one! And..."

Thank you very much, Sky, I'm glad you liked it.skywalkersaga wrote:Wow, your mods continue to impress! Especially like the Salacious Crumb hairing job and the Bib Fortuna upgrade. Nicely done.
Thank you very much, I appreciate it. And I'm grateful for you making the file, which turned out so well -- I was comparing to the mask used in the film, and you got everything down right. Glad Matt picked up this one, and will check out any future ones. I was just browsing his items, as he has a sale, and looked up your files, which all look excellent.Patreon_3DXFiles wrote:Awesome to see some of my files being used and painted! (ishi Tib)
Matt from Poison3DHarleyCstms is a cool dude
They look awesome mate!
I've got a few Jabba goons coming in the next few months. I'm sure Poison3DHarleyCstms will add them to his store
Thank you very much, Diana, glad you liked them. And that you find my obsession with (eradicating) the doll dot funny.Diana wrote:Holy cow you've gotten so good at this! They all look fantastic and if I try to point anything out my mind goes "but that guy looked just as good! And THAT one! And..."

Thank you very much, I'm delighted you liked them. Apparently yes, and with the bigger size and -- let's face it -- more careful application on my part, the newest hair addition looks better than the previous ones.Visisonor wrote:High quality paint jobs again.
Even in placeholder outfits they look great.
And apparently "looks better with real hair" is applicable to non-humans as well
skywalkersaga wrote:Never understood the point of that. Why not just make it glossy, even on dolls???Diana wrote:That dreaded doll dot...

Thank you very much, Mark, I'm delighted you like them. Given what you have assembled to go with your Jabba, this is a great compliment. By the way, Matt (PosionedHarleyCustoms) is having a sale, and most of the Jabba goon heads, hands, and accessories are available.Stryker2012 wrote:Whoah! Lots of great stuff, Ian. The hair work on Crumb is like night and day — so much better. I’m not familiar with Starsher, but I like your Ishi Tib. Excellent mods and paint work.
Thank you very much, Chip, glad you liked them.Chip wrote:What skywalkersaga said , more very impressive mods . Your repaints are top notch .
Thank you, Dal, I'm happy you liked them.BAMComix wrote:Very cool Ian!
Thank you very much, Ephiane, I'm glad you liked them. Crumb has always been a bit of a "grail" figure for me, and I'm glad I got this one, and that I went ahead to customize it.Ephiane wrote:Holy Cow !
the Hot Toys Crumb modification is really fantastic. A touch better than your previous creations. You have turned a plastic figure into a real little monster. Your paint jobs are really good and are getting better and better, each one a clear upgrade to the already beautiful figures.
Thank you very much, Jonathan, I'm glad you approve. With Bib, I was hoping I didn't go too far overboard with the red (and it is a little less vibrant in hand), but if you liked it, I guess it turned out pretty good. Ishi Tib is a bit of an odd duck (really only part duck), but one of them was prominent in a few background shots so I couldn't pass it up.Zes wrote:Good stuff and impressive paint applications!
That Bib Fortuna repaint is excellent, and that Ishi Tib is a cool-looking creature!

You are welcome and thank you for the kind words. And good luck!Urushi wrote:Thanks for the inspiration. Now I really want to paint those headsculpts that are waiting in a drawer for months !
Back to Ishi Tib -- which is actually the name of a species, and there were two or three in Jabba's palace, one of them a female; unless there was just one and the costume changed in different shots. The actual mask used in the film was perhaps a sort of beige-ish green, though the low lighting and Lucas color magic made little of that clear. Online sources told me Ishi Tib were bluish or greenish, so I decided to start with a blue under-layer on top of the black primer.
I am delighted to find out. In ROTJ, they were fairly stuck in the background, although they were present in multiple scenes. Being an Original Trilogy guy, it is this that I'm most interested in replicating, but have a long way to go on the clothing, though I have collected some stills and behind the scenes shots.Patreon_3DXFiles wrote:You are most correct my friend, The Ishi Tib first appears in RTOJ and it's hands were slightly different.Back to Ishi Tib -- which is actually the name of a species, and there were two or three in Jabba's palace, one of them a female; unless there was just one and the costume changed in different shots. The Mask made an appearance as a "Blooper" in the Phantom Menace, Liam Neeson was wearing it as a joke and the footage is on youtube somewhere.
I believe the mask appears in the background of the Pod Race.
The Hands were changed for TPM as they used the same mold to make the Ishi Tib, Aqualish and Quarren and Klatoonian to make the latex hands.
The hands were changed again for the 2015 Game Star Wars: Battlefront and they remain the same for an appearance in The Mandalorian/Book of Boba Fett in Purple/Pink
I believe in the Clone Wars cartoon there were various colors too.
Just a side Note: I sculpted this file a few years ago as a Full Size movie accurate Display, but whn I started my patreon I made some adjustments to make it 1/6
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked them, and the trivia. There's probably more trivia to be shared, but I forget things, and also realize some people prefer less text and more photos, given the limited amount of time they might have when checking in. And you know me, I find it hard to keep to just a couple of photos...Visisonor wrote:Awesome-looking kitbashes. And and interesting read overall, bits of trivia and all.
Thank you very much, Mark, I appreciate it. As you can see, I still have some things to work out with the outfits (especially lower end of the sleeves) and am probably going to upgrade the footwear on the Bith and Rodian. I did break down and pre-order Sideshow's new Greedo, who is obviously a different character.Stryker2012 wrote:Great stuff, Ian. Cool that you’re keeping this going. They look good.
Thank you very much, Sky, I appreciate it and am glad you approve. I'm both excited about and disheartened by the Sideshow announced figures (especially the second wave which seems to include Jabba goons), but would still like to complete these. Painting is easier for me than custom clothing, and the old Kenner/Hasbro outfits only go so far. I have a couple of things coming up that might of some special interest to you... Also, did you happen to see my new Vader review?skywalkersaga wrote:More awesome work on these customs! It's such a treat to see SW aliens in 1/6 scale, and even better when they are one-of-a-kind pieces.
Thank you very much, Jonathan, I'm glad you like them. These are a little different, as they are essentially (originally meant to be) Cantina characters, and belong to an older and simpler aesthetic (the Greedo/Rodian look was developed from a preexisting blander Martian design), but luckily there was still plenty of detail to play with. I tried to find a balance between subtle and somewhat expressive. At this point, the outfits and the effectiveness of the hand attachment remain the main points to improve.Zes wrote:These Star Wars customs are always a fun read! I particularly liked how you painted the Bith head and hands. They look excellent!
Thank you very much, Ovy, I'm glad you approve. Also delighted you have come back, and I hope you won't be a stranger. I'm surprised that Beedo's track suit worked as well as it did -- I originally thought it would be too naive. I need to figure out what to do with the sleeves -- here and elsewhere. As for the Gopnik idea, sweet, and I have actually created some more Gopniks, but with the mess that is going on over there, I haven't had the heart to do anything with them.Ovy wrote:You have been very busy, improved your alien customizing and painting skill much further, which is beautiful.
Beedo look like he is wearing fake adidas track suit. I wonder what he might look in real adidas tracksuit. Cousin Gopnikoo might know.
I am really sorry to hear this, as it is a great set. I hope you like it if and when you get it or read the review. The latter can, perhaps, inform you on whether you really really want or need it, or whether your needs might be met by picking up some of the piece(s) parted out. Either way, no pressure. I hope things work out better and you don't have to make difficult choices like this.skywalkersaga wrote:GF - I haven't had the heart to read the Vader review because I had to cancel my PO of that figure due to lack of funds. I'm really gutted about it, trying to find a way to purchase it eventually. I will read it when I'm feeling less sad about it.... sometime.
