Diecast Science Fiction Guns (in use)

It’s been maybe a couple of years since I saw anyone post about the diecast keychain weapons that were marketed mostly as League of Legends (game name).  I did not realize their range had expanded greatly, and also, they are now making some very cool design sci-fi type weapons.  

I came across these in February, on the same day, as it happens, that I was feeling giddy from having just watched the Falcon Heavy SpaceX launch.

I’ve gone back to Chinatown a couple of times since and accumulated a few more.  Most of the items you see below cost me $8 CAN ($6.50 US$) each.  Some had keychain links that I’ve removed.  Not all of the available diecast weapons are 1/6 but I’ve selected some that are.  These are very heavy in hand (diecast) and figures may have trouble holding them up.  There are several categories of design style.  Some are souped-up versions of semi-realistic weapons.  But my favorites are more ornate fantasy sci-fi weapons, which are maybe very John Carter.

I love keychain weapons. Grind off the chain, apply some paint, and they are ready to go. These M9 bayonet keychains are exactly 1:6 scale.

These are really cool!  I think this one is my favorite



since it's just so ornate and scifi/alien looking.

I picked up a bunch of keychain swords a while back.  While really cool, I feel like the weight ends up being a problem when trying to pose figures with them, especially with phicen's weak wrists.  I think with these rifles types especially, that's probably less of an issue.

I'd love those designs enough if they were just on a book cover or something -- but being able to get them in 1/6 scale, diecast, and for only $6.50 US! I can't believe there's a guy putting that much skill and effort into it while he's working basically for a knockoff keychains company. I wish he could read this and feel appreciated!

Thank you for posting these. Really cool finds, although I get what you say about the John Carter look. And you have appropriately put the most John Carter-looking weapon in John Carter's hands. Somewhere I have a fantasy battle axe from a key chain that works ok in sixth scale, but not handy (or locatable) enough to show. I also chuckled when I saw Steppenwolf. I got him, thinking I might attempt a custom. Then I remembered I am not shovelchop!

Whatever happened to the good old fashioned disintegrator ray gun?  The kind you can just point and shoot and the target is gone or maybe traces of ashes left.

If I wanted to get real exotic maybe a disintegrator/vaporizer/heat ray gun where if shooting a human target only leaves behind their clothing.

Wow! These are very cool, and pretty decent priced too. They seem to be a very good alternative. Thank you for sharing them.

I cut this in half and have two weapons for the price of one.

Heh. I use more "gun metal grey" than all my other paint colours combined.

Some years ago I planned to customize a few figures as League of Legends champions, and these would have been useful. I might get some of the melee weapons for my chars even though they're from a different game.

Excellent batch of weapons and the characters are great as well!
I always recommend using the search term " novelty keychain " when shopping eBay, Amazon, aliexpress, etc. there are SO many items that scale out nicely!

Since shazzdan was showing off a sword (beautifully repainted, by the way), I will point out that there is a jewelry outfit called "Fairytale" that has, among many other kinds of pendants, various swords. Some of them are excessively fairytale looking, others less so, but with minor modification (if any) most of them could be used for sixth-scale action figures as short- to mid-sized weapons. They are being carried by Hobby Lobby both in-store and online, but they might also be available elsewhere.

Hey Kukolka. When I was looking I remember seeing a ton of keychains on ebay specifically from League of Legends so you might have more luck than you think. Just fair warning, some are definitely more in scale than others, so it can be a bit of a gamble.

Hey Kukolka.  When I was looking I remember seeing a ton of keychains on ebay specifically from League of Legends so you might have more luck than you think.  Just fair warning, some are definitely more in scale than others, so it can be a bit of a gamble.

Ooops, this confused me, then I came to know I caused the first confusion. I might get some of these League of Legends branded weapons for my characters who are from a different game.

This is surprising, DFC. I'd expect from you to vaporize only the clothing.
