I don't honestly get the bulbous sections of the soles protruding from the sides of the shoe. Is that supposed to do something?

Oh I'm sure it has something to do with stability, comfort, orthopedics, or is a marketing ploy. Maybe if I were doing a kitbash of a specific player and he used those, I might be interested; but otherwise it looks too particular to me. But to each his (or her) own...
