Well, my M35 arrived yesterday, and I finally had time to get him prepped the way he's going to be displayed. This one's for the ladies (sort of)...

kitbash - TBLeague / Phicen M35 updated (photo heavy) - Page 3 _dsc2810

This things are really nice. I just wish TBL would put out female bodies in this color again.

Hello. Just joined thank you for having this group Smile .

I wish Phicen would release the M35 also with a lighter skin color for the male. The "suntan" looks kind of grey and a bit weird to me. Also wish it were as tall as the M36.

Welcome aboard!

Phicen/TBLeague has been slow to address kitbashers' desire for greater variety in skintones, having reduced the options for female bodies to two (pale and new/lightened suntan) and until M36 having only (darker) suntan for the males (with M36 they produced an additional darker version for bodies depicting people of African descent -- both versions were reviewed HERE, but perhaps you have already seen that). I imagine it will be some time before we see additional options, though I hope they will appear. I think we can safely say that except for M30 (which was really a tad more greyish), the male bodies are really not grey; that might be an impression caused by specific lighting or even the settings on your screen, if not personal perception. I refer to the basic bodies, not something specific to a boxed set (e.g., Bloodshot, who has been given a white body, etc).

An M35 with the stature of M36 (or an M36 with the muscle mass of M35) would be heroic indeed. But note that you would have some trouble clothing it -- because of both the height and (especially) the bulk. Still, it would be something to behold. Smile

Thanks for the welcome and input Smile .

I own the 34 and 35 and they seem grayish/tan and for me, are a bit too dark for a Caucasian male. I wish they had a light more realistic skin tone version. They would sell tons of those. Also would be nice if the body style of the M35 was as tall as the M36.

Thank you, GubernatorFan, Stryker2011 for the many good photos. Smile  Thanks to all who wrote something in this topic. That was a good motivation for me to make my photos more interesting.

DeltaForceChung wrote:My only complaints and criticisms for PHICEN / TBLeague is as follows.

1. Bigger and longer junk pieces for all male seamless bodies and make sure the skin tone matches the bodies.

2. Ethnic (i.e. African American, Hispanic, etc.) female and male bodies with applicable "details" top and bottom.

3. Consistency in "details" across all female and male bodies (i.e. no more no nipples or lack of details down there on base female bodies).

4. Keep prices and quality consistent and reasonable.

5. No more string bikini panties and tops with female bodies, but more standardized bras and panties (i.e. bikini, tanga, etc.).

6. Offer some head sculpt reissues from prior offerings.

7. Improved / re-designed ankles.

8. Bring back the old suntan skin tone damn it!

9. Possibly offer good detailed 1:6 "merkins" for female bodies to appease those who want a natural look down there instead of bare.

That's about it.

That's a great list! I agree! Especially about those infernal string bikinis. I never could get them on her. About lost my mind. And the bareness with no other options bothers me as well. As if all adult females would look like that. It makes me think they cater to dudes who like too-young girls. Feels so icky. I feel like (I hope) they take all the feedback into consideration and in future releases they will get even better.

nhwioz - great extra shots with the guys, this time not getting victimized. Smile I'm wondering -- did you outfit three bodies with the same clothes and accessories or did you shoot the same body separately with different heads and in different poses, then bring them all together in a graphics program? Of course, you don't have to give away your secrets! Smile

I really bought 3 body with the same clothes and accessories. Embarassed  I had to do, and I absolutely wanted 3! It is a compensation of my childhood. I have already seen that there are 3 different colors of this clothing. I like black the best, then the camouflage and finally olive. I did not want to like someone better than the other one, so all in black! Smile

I searched for 3 heads that fit. Arnold Schwarzenegger can not be there, because many other users have them. Dwayne Johnson is perfect! Even in reality, he has a massive body with lots of muscle. There are still 2 left. Captain America with a bad face. Yes, that fits! How many users have this head? Captain America also has muscles. Now I need a third. Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Punisher), the head fits. In reality, Jon Bernthal does not have much muscle. But the face, military haircut and the expression say something else. It fits!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly! Razz

What or who is good, bad and is ugly? I will try to integrate these characters in another post. Wink

You made good choices with the heads, nhwioz! Though probably Jon Bernthal one is my fave. ;D

nhwioz - kudos for the reference to my favorite Western. I appreciate your commitment, getting three of the same bodies and outfits. Now you have a whole outfit (gang, group, whatever) of these guys to deploy, and they come uniformed! I generally stay away from black garments, as I have commitment issues and worry about the silicone flesh staining -- does it with these? So I've bought some of the other colors of (I think) the same or similar outfit sets. By the way, just because everyone puts an Arnie head on this body does not mean you should not -- and you're creative enough to make him into a new or unusual character if you wanted.

Great review Ian and amazing pics and poses bounce I love this pic,

I have to say though, the star of the show is Dutch!

I have recently picked up an M35 which i am awaiting the arrival of, so your review is going to be really useful. The M35 I have is for my own take on Dutch, as the Predator ones are now very expensive. I am really looking forward to the body arriving for him. Pics soon hopefully when it gets off that slow boat from China Very Happy

Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked them. I did get carried away with photos on this one. I was writing a guest review for Michael Crawford's website (for some reason he didn't get back to me on that one, so I ended up posting it here in the end), and had meant to include a much smaller selection of 14-15 photos. But since I was waiting to hear about the review and I had so many other photos that either turned well or were informative, I ended up with this mess. Smile

The Terminator arrival photo, lightning background (printed) and raindrops apart, was probably a little half-assed (all puns intended), as I had already done it in earlier reviews for M30 and M34 -- here I didn't even bother to borrow a bent-toe foot from ACI. So I really appreciate you liking it; it must have worked (even with poor focus due to keeping the lights down). Given these bodies were kinda designed for Arnie, it had to be replicated yet again. Besides, it is a nice demonstration of poseability.

For Dutch, are you trying to fit the body into the Hot Toys outfit? This was designed for Hot Toys' special muscular body, so it will fit (as you can see), but it will fit even better on the only slightly less bulky M34. If I do a permanent set up, I would use that, personally. Both for looks and poseability. I was pretty impressed with how well it did fit the M35, but M34 will improve performance without decreasing the match in terms of looks. By the way, I always felt the boots that came with the HT set seem just a little too small (tight), something perhaps exaggerated in the photos because of the angle and proximity of the camera. This, by the way, is another use of a single printed sheet of background for both ground and backdrop.

Well, if it was half arsed or not it came out really well bounce bounce bounce . As for my Dutch bash, I don't have all the army gear, in fact, I don't have any of it. My bash is based on his arrival in the helicopter at the beginning of the film. Whether or not the clothes I have will fit, remains to be seen lol! . I am hoping they will. The M35 should arrive sometime next week, fingers crossed anyway Suspect .
I am looking forward to finally getting him on a better suited body, so look out for pics soon bounce bounce

I see (about your impending Dutch) -- the red shirt look, was it? So also no face paint then. I do look forward to seeing your creation.

While that should not be particularly difficult, especially if you resort to Kneadatite (these guys should pay me for promoting their stuff LOL) or air-drying clay or something like that -- I assume you would want to give it a tapered look, although I confess that I haven't gone back to look what exactly it looks like in these frames from the film. Then you can paint it and maybe glue on a brand logo if needed. But there are in fact plenty of sixth-scale cigars you can pick up and, if necessary, modify as needed.

You are welcome. They are bound to have some already floating around. I don't know how shipping costs and taxes would be for something that should be a small item and not particularly costly, but you can probably find some on Toy Anxiety, Monkey Depot, or Black Ops Toys.
