All good points, TG. I agree, the smile seems a little “forced” to me. Ephiane did some more FaceApp mods with the new head, and some new hair styles, that I think make the new head look better than stock.

I was watching an old movie (circa 1944) last night in which Cigarette Girls were featured prominently. This figure well captures the general appearance of Cigarette Girls as portrayed in the movies.

Was the adorable little cap part of the original costume you purchased, or did you find it elsewhere... or make it? (EDIT: found it on eBay; see what you've started? You guys are such enablers! Razz )

Having searched the term 'cigarette' here on OneSixthFigures, this is the ONLY thread the emerged.
I had hoped there might be more results.. something including 'how to..' 'make a 1/6th scale cigarette' for example.

Cigarette's, has anyone here made one? ..for the moment all i can think of is to cut down a toothpick and paint it Smile
I have searched on ebay, but have not been too sold on what's on offer.
In my humble 1/6th collection, the Hot Toys Sarah Connor ships with the best 1/6th scale cigarette.

Looking through this thread. Great figure! Smile

For cigarettes, I have used cotton swabs (commonly called "Q-tips" in the States), the kind with cardboard rather than plastic shafts. Cut them to length, dab one end with a black felt-tip marker, and good enough!

Mildly Satisfying

.

Another option is round wooden toothpicks (or cocktail skewers), which actually have a more appropriate diameter for scale model cigarettes... but being wood colored, they need to be painted. The size is about right, however.

.

Some forum members have painted the tips of miniature cigarettes red or orange, and then glued a few flakes of pepper to the tip to give an appearance of glowing ash.

It's interesting to see this topic surface again. After seeing it... what, three or four years ago... I actually purchased most of the costume parts I needed to assemble a similar "Cigarette Girl" figure. I ran across those parts in one of my storage tubs a few months back and briefly thought about searching for this topic before promptly forgetting all about it again.

There may be others, but this is the one Cigarette Girl that springs to mind right now (I was going to tell you look at Stryker's threads, but it turned out to be exactly that).

As for cigarettes, there are plenty. Most come with military (like DiD or Ujindou) or gangster sets (including DAM's Gangster Kingdom series, where such accessories are not stylized, unlike the human and animal features). There are pristine ones, lit ones, even ones with plastic translucent smoke coming out of them. Also, this is the sort of thing that you can find either parted out or custom made on eBay for a reasonable price.

Here is one of many examples:

Okay, so just a quick how to for anyone who could find it useful, making a 1/6 scale cigarette. To make one, all you will need is a few cotton buds (I used Johnson ones as they are solid all the way through) with the cotton wool ends cut off, and some felt tip pens. I used a brown, yellow, orange, grey and black.
First off chop down the cotton bud to smaller sizes,

Custom - Custom/Kitbash: Cigar (or Cigarette) Girl - Page 5 Creating-a-1-6-scale-Cigarette-1

First off I used the brown the create the tip,

On the other end, I used the yellow as a base coat for the burning end.

Next up orange, but added in blobs, leaving some yellow showing through.

The final stage was adding grey and black in the same way I applied the orange, to create a burning effect.

The final product.

Cool! Thanks for the little tutorial, Dal. I used to buy parted out cigarettes from different sets, but they always charge an arm and a leg for these tiny plastic parts ... and those cigarettes have a strong tendencies to get lost when taking photo shootings Very Happy

Over the past 48hrs, i painted a number of toothpicks white, a greyish white.
Once the white dried, i painted some orange on one end.
The next step was to cut the toothpicks to size and add some red or ash fx.
The 'next step' was aborted, as it hit me just how big the cigarette was going to look in the mouth of the portrait.

I checked out some cotton buds. The buds i have are not plastic, and feature card/paper sticks.

I checked out YouTube, and there was a guy turning toothpicks into cigars, and white paper-clips into cigarette's. Paper-clips, interesting, but possibly too small?

Prior to all of the above, i had purchase a small drill to drill into the mouth to hold a cigarette.
Then the idea hit me, why not use a small drill bit as a cigarette?
A few moment ago i painted a drill piece white.
Tomorrow i will need to work out how to break the drill bit to the correct length. Maybe add a red glow tot he tip Smile

Custom - Custom/Kitbash: Cigar (or Cigarette) Girl - Page 5 20240210

The white stick on the far left is the painted drill bit.

The plan is to sand the tip to show some black drill bit, which might look like ash?
Then add some red/orange paint.
I might add some orange to represent the filter.

Thanks!
I think i'm there. Just need to work out how to break a drill in the correct place. A hammer and (old) chisel might do the trick. The broken end can be hidden in the mouth hole.

My 1st 1/6 scale cigarette.
my painting skills are not great.
I cannot paint a straight line around a cigarette, not matter how hard i try.
In person the mouth hole looks ok. The photo's reveal a burr around the edge, the result of drilling into the mouth. Might need to work on that.
The black & white image has smoke added to it using Photoshop.

Another idea idea came to me today.
The white area of the cigarette paper could be created by wrapping actual cigarette paper around a tube or a drill-bit etc.

I remember when I was a kid my parents and I were visiting Paris and at the Montmartre there were plenty of "artists" exhibiting their artworks, most of the paintings showing elderly men or pretty young women smoking. The cigarette tips were painted in a strange way and gave you the illusion of real smoldering. It really was kind of kitsch, the tourist loved it, though.

Stryker2011 wrote:The Cigar Girl’s history began in the Roaring Twenties, an Era during which America enjoyed considerable prosperity, particularly in urban centers. Fueled by this newfound wealth, entrepreneurial restaurateurs began to expand their establishments from pure eateries to “supper clubs,” a destination where patrons could spend an entire evening eating, drinking (despite Prohibition), socializing, and listening to live music.

The Cigar Girl was a common fixture at such clubs. She was always a pretty, young girl who wore a bright (often red trimmed in black), short saloon-style dress and sported a pillbox hat. Around her neck, she holstered a tray with a considerable selection of cigars, cigarettes, and various other tobacco products and sundries. Depending on the venue or the wishes of the restaurant’s owner, she might also carry candy, snacks, drinks, chewing gum, flowers, or novelty items.

The job of a Cigar Girl was more than just selling tobacco products; she was part of the ambiance, mixing among the patrons while adding a touch of class and full-service. The Cigar Girl relied on her charm, quick wit, and a flirtatious manner to catch the attentions of businessmen, who would tip graciously for the pleasure of speaking with such a beautiful young woman. She was often described as being the “life of the party,” and thus while refrains of “cigars, cigarettes?” certainly enticed tobacco buyers, most customers were paying as much for her company as they were for her wares (and no, not as prostitutes).

Within a few short years the Cigar Girl archetype had been well-established by Hollywood, which had depicted her in many films of the time, and when the Eighteenth Amendment was finally repealed in 1933, she had caught on as a cultural icon: Cigar Girls could be found in restaurants, social clubs, bars, casinos, and even airports. Her popularity continued to soar through the postwar era into the 1950s, when she could be seen at sporting events and in the lobbies of theaters and music halls during intermissions.

Audrey Hepburn as Frieda the Cigarette Girl in Laughter In Paradise (1951)

Model/actress Josie Maran in the Aviator (2004)

But eventually, the Cigar Girl fell victim, as so many things do, to modernity. The mid-1950s brought automated vending machines which worked for free, and could earn the venue-owner a tidy profit besides. Changing attitudes about smoking aside, the Cigar Girl was increasingly seen as a bygone relic.
These days, you are more likely to see a Cigar Girl at a Halloween or Costume Party than you are inside a big city night club or hotel. But even though she has been largely relegated to a romantic yesteryear curiosity, there is still a demand for her services. There are still companies today (like Mrs. Bella’s Dolls) that specialize in hiring out models for private parties and corporate events whose organizers are looking to add a touch of old-school sophistication to their event. And though cigars and cigarettes can still be seen on their trays, their are Vape alternatives also in evidence.

My Cigar Girl was a long-time in the making. I knew the first time I saw the basic saloon-style dress and stockings from Super Duck a few years back what I was going to do with it. It’s taken me a very long time to gather all the things I wanted her to carry. I gave her as big a variety of items as I could reasonably fit on the handmade tray, wanting to make sure she could cover the gamut of possible items her patrons might desire.
This little project reminded me of when I turned 18 (just before going overseas while serving in the Air Force) when my Dad took me to the Playboy Club he belonged to (not sure they still have Playboy Clubs today). While there weren't Cigar Girls dressed like this one or the lovely ladies in the photos, there were Bunnies acting in the same role. It was a fun and nostalgic trip down memory lane for me.
Hope you enjoy.

The tray is made from balsa wood and wrapped with ribbon. Although I don’t show it, the cash box (all in black w/ a red ribbon pull) does actually contain different denominations of US currency.

Great work!!!!!
My question:
How do you manage to put on pantyhose (no fishnet, sheer) on a 1/6 scale silicone figure? I tried hard but it is very very difficult, is there a way to make it easy?

I am happy with the results. Might sort out the burr. Might add some more red to the tip of the cigarette.

Koloth, to answer your question: No, there really is no easy way to put nylons on. I usually roll them down, much the way Ive seen women do, and try to roll it up, but it still requires a LOT of tugging and patience to get them where I want them.
