it's a kind of spanish/mexican looking head with a skimask built in to the head sculpt.

here is the link from ebay

I really want this model, but at the same time 250$ I'm wondering... is it worth it? I love the character, but it boarders generic soldier, the pouches and red lensed gas mask is about all that makes it stand out....

can't decide if I want it or not.

Well, this is how HUNK looks in the current RE games and its pretty spot on. I tried to kitbash him years and years ago, so a full figure is welcome and its loaded with gear, I mean he comes with 2 pistols and 2 long guns as well as 2 versions of his iconic Gasmask.

Some of the parts could also be useful for other figures. I will see if I can get one and put him to my other black clad SpecOps soldiers.

Not sure if you're familure with the old line of 1/6 zombies "the dead" sideshow did them years ago, I finally completed the set, even the rare patient zero, they only had 300 made.

I have a table of survivors, and I keep debating kit bashing characters from left 4 dead ect, but I have my own original ones for the time being.

seeing as hunk is a open ended story, I could see him fighting with a random group of survivors.

I over think this stuff too much, but one day I want a entire table dedicated to a diorama, I've been looking up tutorials on 1/6 brick walls ect, but I haven't dove in to that project yet.

Not sure where this came from. The vest, pouches, helmet and weapons look dated.

Easy pass for me.

The figure is based on the RE2/RE3 (as in Resident Evil) remake, which is set in 1998, so the gear is all 90s military gear.

huh, I didin't feel the gear looked dated, plus he's a PMC for umbrella, thus he isn't restricted to standard equipment

When I saw that KG Hobby had this in stock I did a quick shop around and found him still at pre-order price at Giantoy - $226.99 delivered.

I used rewards to get him down to $221.99, and he shipped a couple of days ago by 'Royal Mail Expedited'. It's being handled in China by UBI, who I never heard of before. It's weird because they assigned it a GB prefix rather than CN, which makes it look like a national delivery.

I liked the look of the figure when he was first shown, but it was the in hand photos on BBICN that finally convinced me.

It's a pretty good certainty that this was made by VTS, who created the EKUAZ name because they already had the license under their DAM TOYS brand name, and apparently didn't get a license to produce HUNK.

The first review points out all the parts of the EKUAZ figure which are shared by the DAM Leon.

Do you realize what you've done....

I was happy passing on this, as the quality seemed a bit under the price range.

But I love the aesthetic, and I like hunk the character... now you've gone and shown me it's bad ass.

Plus it comes with 2 masks... meaning I have a duty to kit bash a female partner with hunk.

I have the entire "the dead" zombie collection, and he's going to fit in nicely with the other survivors.

you said you got this from HK hobby? I didn't see him for order, but perhaps I'm not searching him correctly?

I don't know much about the RE games, but while looking into HUNK's back story I discovered there was a LADY HUNK skin.

ministryofwrath wrote:you said you got this from HK hobby? I didn't see him for order, but perhaps I'm not searching him correctly?

I got him from Giantoy. It was seeing KG Hobby's Facebook post stating they had him in stock that sent me looking for the best price.

Giantoy seem to be cheaper on a few things recently, but since I ordered he's sold out at both places.

I think the EKUAZ name put people off when it was announced, because they assumed it was a new, untested company.

EDIT:

The second gas mask was a nice surprise as I initially assumed it was just a swap out broken lens.

The EKUAZ figure is pretty versatile looking, from a 1980s SAS HRT member to any number of post-apocalyptic scenarios.

'The Last of Us' is my current 'go to' post-apocalyptic scenario for 1/6, so the gas mask is very relevant.

I bought the DAM Ghost Series Ryder Watson years ago - this guy:

NEW PRODUCT: EKUAZ STUDIO: 1/6 Reaper-CSS Special Forces Bloody Survival Doll #EKS05 04

http://toyhaven.blogspot.com/2013/05/preview-dam-toys-ghost-series-16.html

Going by the date on Toyhaven's preview I didn't realise it was quite that long ago. Ever since though I've had a love/hate relationship with the figure. Mostly hate, and I tried different set ups before  disassembling him a few years ago. He never felt right and never fit in with anything.

Now that I'll have the HUNK and spare gas mask I thought I'd try and put Ryder Watson to use.

I have the Hot Toys Lt. Jim Gordon SWAT figure which came with a PASGT helmet, but it was never designed to fit any figure's head. So I cut down a Disney Krennic sculpt, and put a balaclava on it from one of CraftOne's Heat bank robbers.

NEW PRODUCT: EKUAZ STUDIO: 1/6 Reaper-CSS Special Forces Bloody Survival Doll #EKS05 100_0510

With the EKUAZ gas mask he'll do for background company for HUNK.

I found it for pre-order on a American website, but from my understanding it gets delayed a lot for western release, correct?

I'm debating if I should just buy it off ebay for extra and wait for it to ship from china, or hope the western shipments don't take long.

ZeroDelta

He would fit pretty well with my other 2 black clad soldiers that I did awhile ago, but I too, wonder if I should try and get it from ebay from a Chinese store and hope it arrives. I mean what stores would people recommend?

I no longer trust Chinese eBay stores.

I use KG Hobby, OneSixthKit, TNS and Giantoy.

None of them have the figure listed now.

I checked Machine Gun Figures in France because they stock a wide selection - but none there.

I looked at Space-Figuren in Germany - they have it but the price is ridiculous.

https://www.space-figuren.de/1-6-Super-Section/Komplettfiguren/1-6-Scale-Grim-Reaper-Company-Security-Service-Operator-The-Bloody-Way-to-Survive::20330.html

At the current exchange it's the equivalent of $346.50.

It was $226.99 at Giantoy including delivery ($221.99 after using $5 in rewards).

I trust them depending on their ratting, I've only had bad luck with one, and that was with a world box body, the leg joints were loose, they have yet to try and replace it.

this model is being parted out now on ebay, that means it's being released in asia, but I never know what that means for the western market, it seems like most the ebay stores say this is still a pre-order despite the fact it's now out in asia.

I don't know which stores were offering this figure for retail, as I pretty much forgot about him until KG Hobby posted he was in stock.

He arrived this morning Everything looks good quality, from the box, internal packaging to the parts, clothes and body.

It's going to be very time consuming putting him together. There aren't any instructions, so you have to go by photos, or this video review:

I spent so long just changing the gas mask over to the one with the cracked lens. Every time I got it onto the head one or both of the lower elastic straps came out of their buckles, and it was impossible to thread them back in without taking the mask of and beginning again.

I finally managed it by pulling the straps tight so that by the time the mask was on there was enough of the ends showing to retighten.

My progress was also delayed because I saw in one of the reviews that he had a green T-shirt under his uniform. As it's a waste for him to be wearing it, and could be used for another figure, I took it off. While tucking the black jacket back in it was getting caught up inside the trousers. On inspection there's a black panel inside the trousers attached by poppers. Don't know if this was just to help keep the Velcro fly closed?

Another thing that needs doing is thickening up the long skinny ankle pegs so they fill the boots. At this rate it's going to take all day. lol

Good use of the second mask, too bad about the strap issues.

I pulled the trigger, it says it'll be here by jul25th, I hope that's true, I'll get it in hand supposedly by the time its even in stock in western shops.

I'm debating what to do with the second mask, a female in a black jump suit with the mask might be easy enough to pull off.

I've got a table of zombies, and about 5 survivors, this will make 6, I'm debating if I really need another, though the zombies still far outnumber the survivors.

This will be the only military style model I've had in recent time, I'm not really a military model fan, but this one is fantastic.

I'm debating if I want to hurt myself enough to buy the revenger ultimate edition, I love punisher, he also has the "pouch/gear" look going on.

ministryofwrath wrote:Good use of the second mask, too bad about the strap issues.

It was a bit quicker on the second figure once I knew to pull the straps tight to begin with, so that friction would keep at least some of it in the buckles.

However, I wasn't happy with how the Hot Toys helmet sat with the mask on, so removed the mask and relegated that figure once more! HUNK is so good that the bashed figure didn't pass muster.

I'm not normally into modern military, as they tend to look so similar to me. But there was something about the EKUAZ HUNK.

That's a great figure, though not without a few issues.

I got three of the original Revengers, making one into a bearded Rucka version, one Jon Bernthal and keeping one as Ray Stevenson.

The first issue with the Ultimate, as with the first release, is that he's too short. I used some of OneSixthKit's ankle extenders on both Stevensons to get him up to the correct height. Secondly, the tactical belt is a bit too long, so I swapped it with one of the older ones - because I wanted the Ultimate to be the best; lastly I swapped the trousers with one of the older ones because I found the Ultimate's to be too baggy, as though VTS designed them to be bloused over the boots.

Now that you mention it, they look like they're designed for assault rifle magazines rather than MP5.

Ah thats what I figured, from looking at the photos.

To make sure I just pulled the mag from the MP5 and held it against one of the pouches. It would be too long to fit inside.

Looks like this was also the case with the RE2 Remake source:

Very Happy

I bought two of CC Toys' Ellies. They each came with two sculpts, so I made two more. It was quite a lot of work adapting bodies to make them small enough.

The little one on the bigger stand was my original from Redman. Because she's so short I consider her to be prequel Ellie from the American Dreams comic book.

NEW PRODUCT: EKUAZ STUDIO: 1/6 Reaper-CSS Special Forces Bloody Survival Doll #EKS05 Lou1p4

I also bought two CC Joels, but only made one more because I'm not a big fan of his angry sculpt.

The Master Team TLOU2 Ellie is currently on the way. Hopefully CC's Clicker and TLOU2 Ellie and Joel will be released soon.

When I first saw the EKUAZ promo photos with the cracked lens gas mask I thought about TLOU, and read up again on how people get infected from the spores. It's only through inhalation, so you'd think that a non-full face mask would do the job. Yet all the masks I've seen in the games are full face, and in TLOU2 Abby has to discard a mask with a broken lens when searching for one for Lev.

(I have a couple of half-masks that came with the VTS Dark Zone figures, but as I never saw them used in the games it didn't feel right to use them).

I don't know much about the function of gas masks and have never worn one, but the FM12/S10 style, as on the EKUAZ figure, has a rubber seal covering the nose and mouth. Maybe that's not good enough on it's own to afford full protection against inhalation?  Or maybe it was a game choice.

While looking at gas masks I also looked at the lens options. The red lenses are often separate parts (outserts) that plug onto the mask over the clear eye pieces (inserts) to assist with low light vision.

The clear lenses themselves, however, can also be changed, as with HUNK's mask which has the red lenses set into the mask in place of clear ones.
