Can anyone give me some names/websites of people who do custom 1:6 scale head sculpts? I am looking to get a custom head done but I dont know many of the artists that do such a thing so a list would be quite helpful to me.

Hey there, sorry, I saw this earlier and meant to respond -- are you hoping to commission just the headsculpt, or are you looking for someone who does painting and hair, etc. also?

Well, if possible the person should be able to paint it as well, but if I could get just the head sculpt, I could always get someone else to paint it or try it myself. I am still trying to get that Duke Nukem head I asked about around 2019, when Peter the Painter sadly retired.

I did manage to contact someone who could do it, but he is booked until next year and I dont know if I want to wait that long.

Edit: Oh also, I dont need rooted hair for that head sculpt, so that should make things a bit easier. I also could see to it that I get a 3D model of the head for possible 3D Printing.

Ah, gotcha, thanks for the explanation.

There are lots of amazing 1/6 scale artists out there, but they are spread out all over the place so sometimes I lose track of them all. Also, many of them are now on places like Instagram, and since I refuse to join that site there are probably quite a few I don't know about.

Here are a few I know of from FB and elswhere (some are just sculptors, some also do paintwork):

Alex Filippov (Siberian Custom Studio): https://www.facebook.com/lexluter91 (note: I'm not sure if he takes single commissions anymore, but he does do group commissions)

Waruna Weligamage:  https://www.facebook.com/SCORPIANZZ

Seok-won Jin
: https://www.jintoy.com/sculpture-list?fbclid=IwAR0WRgVmk1kiT9bQ53iuBHspfBC2zY24Avojgo-9MyTKDXQT6SEy-8oq5D8

Warriors Gate Production Studio: https://www.facebook.com/Warriors-Gate-Productions-sculpting-studio-143010972457878

Sean Dabbs: https://www.facebook.com/sean.dabbs.50  (used to be associated with the above studio, now I think works for another. Not sure if he does individual commissions still?)

Balloonman Studio:  https://www.facebook.com/balloonmanstudio (don't know much about this artist, I just came across them while browsing FB)

Matt Wong: https://www.facebook.com/wang.matt.585

Inigo Gil: https://www.facebook.com/inigo.gil.52

Mark Simpson (NOT a sculptor as far as I know, just does paintwork):  https://www.facebook.com/cmot.dibbler.96

Will come back with more later , but these are just a few off the top of my head...

Ah thank you. Thing is, I dont have a facebook account and I try to avoid it like the plague (I also dont have a twitter, its just better for my sanity), but as long as they show an email I guess I could contact them.

Oh, apologies, I didn't realise. I don't blame you one bit, I'm not on twitter or instagram, but I'm still on FB (due to it being an easy way to stay in touch with my long-distance family members). Can you see their contact info without being logged in? If not, let me know and I can try to get you their email addresses.

I'm glad Sky was able to find some options for you. I have never dealt with someone doing commissions directly, as opposed to someone who was selling items already designed and produced on eBay.

Just be aware that most of these that sky mentioned are usually unwilling to do “one-offs” (ie, one sculpt for one person); they usually only work to make group commissions. Otherwise, if they are willing to do so, the work will cost hundreds (not kidding), as you will be expected to pay for sculpting (generally 3D) and all casting materials (but, you will generally end up with several copies of the same head — and more than likely won’t be painted). Almost no one works the way Peter did, and are as affordable. Sorry to be that guy, but be prepared...

I am aware that its going to be a costly undertaking, but I have disposable income and saved up a bunch of cash that I am able to spend. As long as I get a quality product for the price, then I am happy.

Yes, Stryker is correct. However, these are the 1/6 sculptors I know of via what few FB connections I have, so I thought it better to suggest some than none. Peter was one of a kind in this hobby....

ETA: A disposable income is indeed very helpful in this situation. ;D

Yeah its really good to not have to worry about money and that I can spend it on whatever I want and how much I want (well, Ido have a budget but right now things are going really well).

I saw this advertised on the other site, which might be helpful if you find enough info and photos of a head you can use.

Ah thanks, I had been thinking about getting myself a 3D printer for such a thing as well, it might be useful for other stuff anyway.

So I actually did get replies on my inquiries, now I just have to pick one of the various artists I did contact.

Glad some of them were responsive. Good luck deciding! :')

Say, can I get some photos of the connector of the M35 body? What sort of connector does it use? I ask because it might be useful for the sculptors to know how it has to look like so the head connects properly.

It is a standard TBLeague 1/6 scale male body neck post.

You would probably be playing it safe just having the head be hollowed out for a standard connector and then stuff it with foamies instead. Then you won't run the risk of the connector not fitting or fitting too losely or too high or too low.

Yeah, the head connectors themselves can always be customised fairly easily...the more important thing, imo, is to make sure the base of the head with the opening is wide enough to accommodate the M35 neck.
