They've made this before? Interesting. I must have missed it or forgotten about it (yes, folks, it happens, apparently it is a really big flaw). Anyway, it looks quite impressive.

As for historical accuracy... well... no. Here's Ferdinand II -- and one of his sets of armor -- in a painting:

And here is Ferdinand II's surviving (different) armor in a museum:

Way too elaborate for my tastes looks like he had a collision with a printing press!

I really wish though I had the money for some of these sets

Looks beautiful. I wonder why nobody makes Excalibur figures...

So, is it Ferdinand's? My search didn't turn it up. Of course he could have had a several different suits...

Ferdinand the II had this armor made for display purposes as far as I know. Around that time he was Emperor, the nobility had a fad for very ornate custom armors that they proudly displayed in their Castles to impress visitors. I dont think these armor where ever worn in combat tho

Valiarde

Valiarde
Yeah the armour was just to show off at parades or in the cabinet Razz

I think they made it somewhat real but many things are still off from a 1:1 copy...

I like it though, especially since it is a few hundred bucks cheaper than the WF2021 version (still a lot, but it is copper and a nice craft)

Thanks for the info, ZeroDelta and Valiarde. Well, I'm glad they are replicating a real suit of armor closely enough -- though the facial likeness is still pretty off. Strange that something this striking (and over-detailed) is not the first thing that showed up in the google search. At any rate, I consider myself lucky I think of this as too modern for my medieval interests. Smile

As cool as this looks, I think the Pope figure is much cooler.

In this case he never wore this armour but many of these heavily decorated armours were actually worn in battle. These guys were obsessed with conspicuous consumption. The whole point was to use these up where everyone could see and then replace them with something even more ostentatious.

Ferdinand was described as corpulent so he probably never wore the armour in the above painting either.
