A gentle reminder to keep discussion on the merits of the figure only, please. No politics. Historical discussion is fine as long as the rules are followed.

It looks so real, which is surprising given the multiple layers and the ample insignia. Beautifully done. I wish other figures and periods received the attention and detail we see with so many WWII and WWI figures (especially since I'm not very interested in either).

The detail on the soles of the boots is impressive for an area that would be little seen in most scenarios.

$189.99 pre-order open at Monkey Depot. Estimated release date: Q3 of 2022.

I agree, although I think a number of these companies making WWI and WWII stuff invest in very realistic footwear, including the soles. Older jackboots have hobnails, etc. I can't speak for all of them, but certainly DID. Occasionally, we see a lot of effort go into this even with modern or fantasy figures.

I think 3R and DiD are actually one and the same (which would explain the attention to detail, and the very similar approaches to their advertising).

Interesting. It would explain it, just not why they needed another name... Smile

I think the 3R stuff is the more severe stuff with Hitler, Goebbels and other personalities that you probably can't easily sell in any country. So maybe they created another sub company just because...

Just speculating though.

The accessories and details are great as always. Love the longer coat.

I don't have any official source to quote, but that is certainly what I have always understood the situation to be (and it makes sense). You can actually see continuity across DiD and 3R releases, and similarities of style and marketing, only with the, as you say, "more severe" name recognition persons marketed under 3R (which is after all "Third Reich") -- while German Soldiers broadly, but also Allied ones, and personalities like Churchill, come under the general rubric DiD (which is simply "Dragon in Dreams" or something like that).

I like it. There is no way that I could put on all those fiddly accessories. Does he come pre-assembled?

Most of these types of figures DO NOT come with all the “fiddly accessories” attached. I hope for the sake of anyone who does purchase this, that the row of medals are at least attached as pictured, as that is one of the hardest things to put on these types of figures.

Yes they are both 100% the same company I still collect most of the DiD figures and sometimes pick up the odd 3R figure here and there although I only get their actual Military generals and not the big time 3R leadership figures but, they come in the same packaging and all. I still firmly believe that no other company puts as much love and detail into their figures like Did/3R does and for the price they mostly go for are excellent deals.

Indeed. They put a ton of effort into their figures.

By the way, what type of adhesive have you used to attach all the insignia, etc. to the uniforms?

The insignia are peel and stick. They use a good adhesive that holds well in my experience and are easy to put on. The medals like the Iron Cross are metal with a pin fastener and come already attached to the tunic.

Unfortunately, only the insignia have been peel and stick. None of the metal stuff on the two latest uniforms that I have to work with have any sort of pin fastener — it’s just flat metal sadly.

Yeah the last ones I bought all had the insignia with either clips or a really good peel and stick. The only figure that I own that has the insignia the way you describe is my old DiD General Patton and I have not put his insignia on because most of the silver coating/paint from the stars has fallen off.

The latest DiD figure that I received (Colonel Mackenzie) is like that — only the patches have peel and stick, none of the metal parts have any way to attach them. It really pisses me off. If they aren’t going to give you tips on how to attach this stuff, then it needs to be done at the factory level — no exception. I can’t remember the name of the figure (General Frank? Ed Harris from The Rock) that I bought years ago, and it’s still in the box due to the unwieldy medals that have no way to attach correctly without looking ridiculous (and no indication how to do it). Frustrating doesn’t even begin to cover it. I think I’m done buying these military figures.

Not sure if you're aware but DiD does tutorial videos for all their newest figures and I found this Tutorial video for Mackenzie. They show how they put the insignia on at 3:12 although it's pretty quick it looks like they used some kind of sticky tape that they put a little bit on the insignia and then stuck it to the uniform, hope this helps.

Awesome! Thanks. Now I’m going to have to hunt down that tape. Much appreciated.

Did not know that! Very helpful! Thank you!

I found a very good double sided clear tape to attach medals etc. on my DID figures, just have to cut it finely to shape and apply it. Havnt had anything fall off in years. It is surprising though that modern figures dont come pre attached, I can only think its to give us more options.

That's so strange... I wonder why that set would be different from the recent German officer sets. I have Star of Africa, Captain Willi and DAK Captain Wilhelm and they all came out of the box with the the medals already pinned to the tunic. I only had to peel and stick the other insignia.
