GeeW -- that Eartha Kitt is so cool! So it's never been released? Too bad...

Everyone makes really good points here. I was looking at this on my phone so hadn't realized the bikinis are plastic like the 1/12 versions. Weird choice, but it does make me think these are being marketed to use specifically 'as pictured', rather than being intended for kitbashers like other loose tbl bodies.

AerynDiana wrote:Hopefully they'll feel like they've perfected that body type now and will depart from the anime market and return to the realism and/or super hero genre for the next release.

Slim AND curvy or athletic realism (without those aforementioned super thighs) get my vote.

And additional skin tones. Naturally.

You said it perfectly! Smile

Also, you mentioned these being akin to re-do's of the smaller bodies, and I do hope these lean more towards being shorter in height [despite the long legs]. If so, they'd have much more of a draw for me.

rollotomasi wrote:I agree with GF re the horrible @%$#* Jiaou doll ankles. How is the JD ankle an improvement on the TBL ankle?
I only have the S09 and 1 JD body and TBL's ankle sculpt and articulation look realistic to me.
But maybe you're referring to the feet armature blade slicing thru the silicone feet (like Gazelle of Kingsman Very Happy) but its not visible anyway so no biggie.

Oh yeah, the old TBL's look OK, but what the Jiaou feet have over them is the side-to-side flexibilty. But the Jiaou feet certainly aren't anywhere near an ideal solution either.

I don't have any of the smaller bodies, are the bikinis plastic? These also look moulded, so if you wanted to remove them you'd probably have to cut them off. They'd be quite nice, if they were fabric.  Odd choice.

skywalkersaga wrote:GeeW -- that Eartha Kitt is so cool! So it's never been released? Too bad...
It's in Phicen's 'Products list' dated 2014 and listed as 'Not available yet', so I don't think we should hold our collective breath, sadly. There's an accompanying 'Julie Newmar' figure and an 'Adam West' that looks bizarrely much more like Roger Moore as James Bond...

I won't buy the S33B anymore and just wait for this S35.

Yeah, I'll be getting the Caroline Munro Vampirella that uses a 33b and I think that'll be it for me with that particular model. Hopefully this is an improvement on it.

That Eartha Kitt (and their Adam West) were both canceled a LONG time ago. They never got approval from Ms. Kitt's estate, nor AW, and the original prototypes looked absolutely abysmal. They were attacked relentlessly for how bad they looked on SM, and justly so. It was very early in their career at likeness attempts, and the EK especially looked like a bad Monster High figure with a giant head. If there are eBay sellers still listing this, they need to be reported, as this is NEVER coming.

Ah, right. Yeah, I thought it would've been a rights issue that stopped it. I can see what you mean about the Monster High vibe from the Eartha sculpt, but if the prototype had looked anything like the promo pic above, I wouldn't have been too displeased with it as a more generic 'African' head. I'd have modded the hair, but the features themselves aren't displeasing, not unlike one of the recent Black Panther offerings I've seen listed (I forget the character's name but in fact that itself looks great, aside from the tribal markings that limit it's kitbash potential).

The Julie Newmar and Adam West figures didn't look promising even in the promo pics, though.

I wonder if this is what put TBL off from attempting more ethnic figures, then?

Lol, fair enough , Stryker, I can see what you meanwith those. ;p Still a shame though that they couldn’t muster up ANY further POC sculpts/bodies since that time. :/

You mean this one? I didn't follow the instructions to heat it in warm water before wearing (because these instructions were missing in the ebay description), but don't know whether that would have helped. The tear happened within the hour after putting it on, which itself was easy. (This is the S29B.)

Nice! That's exactly it! Swimsuit mold looks great and i was thinking of using that black one for a comics Black Canary, cutting off the shoulder straps then shape the top like a bustiere.

How did you put it on the body? Is it feet first at the back opening or thru the neck opening? Did that neck opening tear because the hips had to pass thru it?

If it tore on your S29B then it makes me rethink my plan of putting it on the "bigger" S21B.

I put her arms down, went feet first at the back opening and then pulled it up over her arms. I really wasn't concerned at the time because it seemed easy enough. I don't know when the damage occurred, because the tear only appeared once she had been on display for an hour or two. Her chest is big, but the description said it was for the S12D, which is a big bust figure, so I figured it should be ok. Maybe it would have been fine had I actually warmed it up first.

Just realised that along with the general lack of info about these there's no due date listed either, but seeing as they're dated 2019 I suppose it won't be too long before they reach retailers.

I'm curious to know what the price difference will be between the two options.

EDIT:  Ah, GianToy have them up on offer with a March due date as of this morning:

https://giantoy.com/collections/phicen/products/pre-order-1-6-tbleague-teenage-girl-seamless-figure-phmb2019-s34-s35

£16-17 difference for one with a head, usual price for just the body.

I like the blonde lady. To me, her face is quite deceptive or "fake innocent". It's like she's the type of girl who would pretend to being bullied, but in reality she's the bully lol! She can be the bad girl of my Phicen lady gang and start unnecessary trouble.

Fake Innocent Girl: Pst, Ana, Demon Huntress said you're getting fat!

Ana: What the hell?! Demon Huntress, HOW DARE YOU say I'm getting fat!!!

Demon Huntress: Huh?! Haven't you always been quite thick?

(Ana and Demon Huntress begin to have a sword fight while the Fake Innocent Girl giggles at the corner...)

I had been looking everywhere to see if I could find a height for these mentioned, and it was really bothering me so I finally messaged GianToy to see if they had any idea what the projected height will be. It sounds like these are going to be on the shorter side -- approx. 27cm or so, so more akin to the s24-s27b figures. Just wanted to mention this as it may affect how they fit 'normal' headsculpts, and may be why tbleague have offered headsculpts with them this time. That said, if they have improved the shoulder proportions a bit on this one, then perhaps they will still be able to be used with regular-sized sculpts. It's hard to say without a direct comparison pic. We'll just have to see, I guess. But it's worth bearing in mind prior to ordering/pre-ordering.

@skywalkersaga. Oh wow i hope Giant Toy is wrong. I'm not going to P.O. it if its short.
I was checking out the figure's height based on the Coke can then i remembered i have that old cellphone-holder chair in my cabinet, so here goes...

That's the Lady Bat body which i assume is a S23B, stands 29cm from bare feet to hair (but the Kimi Toys head is sitting high on the neck).
The wing of the chair is touching the thigh of the S23B.
They're described as "long legs, narrow shoulders" same as S32/S33 so fingers crossed they're not short like the buxom ones.

rollotomasi -- you may be right, and it may be a tall/'normal' one, but I was just passing on the info I'd received from GianToy. But they don't have the body in hand yet, so perhaps they are mistaken. : )

ETA: On GianToy's site, they are described as 'teenage girl body', which is actually one of the reasons I messaged them, since I thought perhaps that meant they were indeed shorter in stature. But we'll just have to wait and see. Frustrating that tbleague didn't include a height in the product description like they normally do. :/

For what it is worth, perhaps the shoulders can be adjusted to some degree when posing, as usual. The "buxom" body wasn't overly short in my experience, and worked reasonably well with many head sculpts; the more petite ones were more of a problem to head and dress, although as we have discussed, their height was probably more appropriate for general female height.

Yes, exactly. My intention was not to dissuade anyone from purchasing the product, since as you say, even if the bodies *are* shorter in height, it doesn't automatically mean their shoulders will be too slim. My hope is that this is in fact intended as an improvement on the previous petite bodies in that regard. But at the same time, I wanted to pass on the info, since if it did turn out that they didn't work with normal heads, I would have felt bad about not sharing.

Check the Toyseiiki 1/6 Rem figure with the TBLeague body coming out later this year... she has the seamless ankles and looks similar to these. BBTS has her listed as 11.12" tall, and I think the s32-33 are around 11.5 inches tall with head.

skywalkersaga

skywalkersaga
Yeah, I did think they look similar, but could not find a height on those either. If they are the same body, that would mean these are indeed ‘normal’ height, so no one has to worry. Wink

Again, I do apologize if the info I’ve been given is incorrect.

Personally, I have no stake in this, so just curious to see how they turn out.

It takes a village to find a body height Wink

Guess so. Smile Usually tbleague provides the height info, which is why I was confused/frustrated in this instance.

What if the figure is photoshopped on the chair? or what if the soda is a mini can? Those whatchamacallit cans that are kid portions.

Why make head sculpts of children? The head sculpts remind me of my sisters collection of the baby sitters club dolls.

rollotomasi

rollotomasi
@skywalkersaga. Thanks for the heads up. I'd also be concerned when i see "teenage body" on GianToy's site.
No worries, i'll still P.O. it as i really need a seamless ankle with narrow shoulders for a bash.
Thinking about it now, 27cm seems acceptable anyway since the high heels i have on-hand will add 2cm to the height.

@GubernatorFan. Looking at several pics of the buxom in Hiveminer, yeah it doesn't seem too short with footwear.
I'll think of a way to extend the wrists.

@MerylAkiba. Yeah the soda can size varies internationally so i used the chair instead.
I also don't like the Asian lolita heads but quite understandable since this particular body is suited for those anime figures.

@JCKeppel - Yes it takes a village... villagers with pitchforks and torches! Very Happy

Less porn star than some, armpits still too high though. They need to be lower when the arms are down. Other than that these are a step in the right direction.

So, who’s going to take one for the team and get one so we can see comparison pics, and know for sure how this looks? I’m still curious about the seamless foot; is it posable like the Jiaou’s? Are the toes posable like Hot Stuff? Is there more of a support in the foot rather than their initial floppy foot?

I’m still undecided... one of the reasons i was trying to figure out the height on these, so I could see if I’d have a use for one or not.

I probably won't be getting one in a hurry (which is unusual for me I know) - aside from the concerns and likely delays over importing anything from China at the moment, it doesn't look like enough of a departure from TBL's 'norm' for me and I have other bodies in mind for projects that are first in line over these.

Looks like rollotomasi is! Smile

I'll wait for the first review on this one. But good catch on the Rem figure! I totally overlooked the fact that they mention a "custom" TBLeague body, which does look exactly like this one to me and is advertised to be 11.12 inches (28.50cm) tall.

skywalkersaga

skywalkersaga
I’ll certainly be waiting until it’s released before I decide on this one, for a lot of reasons already stated above, but mainly the height issue. If it’s short, I’d probably go for it, but if it’s a tall(er) one, then I’ll pass as I wouldn’t have much use for it. I’m open to taller bodies, but would prefer them to have slightly more defined muscle tone than this one.

Still waiting for my ‘ideal’ tbleague bodies, though I know it’s likely they will never materialise. :p

I think it's only a matter of time. They've been releasing new body types so frequently. Making a body that reflects real people to challenge that Hot Toys market is only a natural progression. Like a body that could be used to replace the Hot Toys WW body. That one is so beautiful, but sooo stiff and... ya know?? They gotta want to fill that gap eventually.
