Update: Finally we there are loose 1/6 jointed children bodies (Mr Z) available, check the newest post.

Hey,

anyone got an overview how/where it is possible to acquire 1/6 figures from age 0 to 10?

Besides baby Luke, I only know about that martial arts kid and those world box toddlers with joker/kill Bill costumes. And the Harry Potter brats.
All rather unavailable, expensive and full of accessories I won't need.
 Any more ideas?

I have this same question — someone over on the old site tried one of those ‘little monk’-style child head sculpts from eBay, but was struggling to find a body that was the right size for it. Other than that, it seems like it’s highly dependant on what is available from existing kid character figures, or what is customisable from various dolls.

I’m very interested in this subject myself, so if you find any other leads do let us know.

Thanks, let's hope the other guys have some ideas. Until now, some candidates:

You’ve pretty much nailed all the existing (or soon to be existing) bodies. One other might be the Asmus John Conner — long sold out now.

Here’s a couple heads that might work with the above body:

Thanks for the additions, Stryker. I struggled earlier to add links as I was on my phone and also really busy.

Here's the type of 'little girl' head I was thinking of -- there's also a bald version and a blond version floating around out there, I think. I was under the impression that it's perhaps a knock off of the 'Lakor baby' figure's head, but I could be mistaken.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-6-Lovely-Child-Head-Sculpt-Little-Girl-Head-Model-Toy-F12-Figure-Body-Model/174143434311?hash=item288bc1ee47:g:cmYAAOSw2hxcRDSu

Also came across this one, though the size on it is not entirely clear to me:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-6-Scale-Short-Blonde-Baby-Face-Little-Girl-Head-Carving-Fit-12-Pale-Body/163677190533?hash=item261bebb985:g:gCQAAOSwKyRczoQp

Obviously these are a bit simplistic and not necessarily the most detailed paintjobs, but thought I'd mention in case they are helpful.

The only child like and teen bodies I've seen are the kumik ones, that said finding a suitable headsculpt might be hard, I don't think they or anyone else have done any.

As an added bonus I feel like I will have nightmares for at least six months, searching ebay for "toddler doll body" is one the biggest mistakes I've done this year.

Doesn't that mean the list maker is also on the list? Will they also have nightmares along with me? So many questions now, I think I wont be able to sleep at all for years. 😳

theboo-bomb -- I have no idea WHAT you encountered and probably don't wanna know, but all I can say is that one would be best to steer clear of looking up 'baby' dolls of any kind.... you will run into those horrific 're-born' dolls, which truly ARE the stuff of nightmares. While searching for tibetan lamb hair, I've had those come up far too many times, and it makes me want to gouge my eyes out every time. I normally try not to judge other people's hobbies, but how in the world anyone can collect and/or customize those monstrosities, I will never understand. 😱 🤢

Urgh yes, reborns are creepy af. >.< I have an almost physical aversion to babies and small children; I’ve never felt the least bit maternal and any time someone brings up the ‘miracle of birth’ I can pretty much feel my ovaries shrivelling up in self defence so the idea of hyper realistic baby dolls just turns my stomach! :lol

That said, I do have a few child dolls for the sake of variety and as an excuse to collect miniature toys. XD

This girl has the cheap body seen above, with a vintage Barbie ‘Chris’ head. The articulation is actually pretty damn good considering the price and I got another couple afterwards - I’m going to attempt to dye one to a darker skin tone.

Oh goodness, don't worry... I feel you on being viscerally grossed out by such things. I don't mind kids so much once they can talk and interact and whatnot. But babies... and newborn babies especially... eeek! Razz The problem with those Re-borns though isn't just that they are babies, as there are plenty of 'cute' 'baby dolls' out there. It's the fact that they are a) 'realistic' to an uncanny valley level, and b) usually asleep with their eyes closed and thus look like DEAD babies. O.O *shudders for eternity*

As for your dolls....they are awesome! I love those group pics. And thank you for sharing all the details about the bodies, it's very helpful. I've looked into using Chelsea or Stacie bodies for a custom kid figure before, but was frustrated by how hard it is to find ones with articulation. Some have articulated legs, but not the arms! What are the 'EAH' arms that are the Stacie?

Oh, and in the first pic, you said the baby/toddler is on one of the 'cheap' bodies -- do you mean the Obitsu 11 cm style body? Just want to make sure I'm not assuming incorrectly...

Thanks again, although they are a bit more stylized. The first one could be turned into something more natural looking by sizing down the eyes, maybe.

The second one also looks like it could depict boys and girls, much will change through hair and accessories.

Wow thanks a lot for all the work. Good to hear about the Obitsu body, might give this one a try.
Again, most a bit too stylized for my purposes, although Harry might work.

#13 is a bit uncanny, though. Speaking of uncanny babies, I heard about newborn dolls first on this forum some time ago. ( A link about adding hair I think) Thought they might be American Horror Style monster baby puppets first.
Of course, they are creepy and wondered what was going on with people buying them, but learned some sad things about grieving mother's who lost their babies and have those puppets for therapeutic purposes etc. Not sure what to think of it now, but definitely won't judge either. Sad

And more I found out: the Wolf Boy is not one of the Lakor babies, the reason why he is much less expensive I guess.

Last of Us game head sculpt

The official head for Obitsu bodies is stylized/oversized.
Child figures -> Mr Z body +3d printed heads S-l400

And I guess there is a Natalie Portman figure from the Leon movie, but it's older now and rather expensive, hard to find I think.

About infants, I found silicon baking forms for babies to put on cakes (well, we won't judge ..) but not sure yet about the size and level of detail. Making a baby bundle with only the head showing is always an option:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/schlafendes-Baby-Silikon-Form-Kinder-Geburtstag-Taufe-Mould-Torten-Deko-Fondant/262510281652?hash=item3d1ed503b4:g:6g8AAOSw1h5XQHHB

There was another form, but can't find it anymore. Guess they are too large anyway.

Thanks again all you busy detective people!

Oh, and in the first pic, you said the baby/toddler is on one of the 'cheap' bodies -- do you mean the Obitsu 11 cm style body? Just want to make sure I'm not assuming incorrectly...

‘Ever After High’ - they’re similar to the ‘Monster High’ range from a few years ago. They’re a bit too stylised for my taste, (the girls in the Harry Potter doll range use their bodies unfortunately) but they’re handy limb donors for smaller dolls, though they’re very delicate in form. I’d honestly go for the Creatable World ones instead tbh, they’ve got much better articulation and are a lot sturdier, plus the clothes they come with are actually really nice quality!

Oh no, the first doll isn’t an Obitsu, she’s on this body - https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F312727873125

Sorry, I mistook the one above for the one I have, they look quite similar at first glance. Despite the price they’re not bad quality. Not the best plastic of course, and I did have to do some customising to replace the neck joint so I could get some proper articulation with the replacement head, but all in all I’d definitely recommend!

The tiny red haired kid at the front with the orange top, she’s on a knockoff Obitsu body. It’s very well articulated but I’d definitely recommend getting the real thing rather than a fake as it’s super fragile and the arms can fall off at the slightest touch. XD

Ovy -- yeah, I had seen that about some of the people who make those re-borns, though to me, that's what makes it even MORE creepy that they look like dead babies, but.... ahh.... enough on that subject, I suppose. ;p

Lynkhart -- thanks for the added explanations. I am indeed familiar with Ever After High dolls -- if only from watching some doll tutorials online, lol -- but was being dense and couldn't place the acronym. ;p That's a great idea to utilize their arms for those figures where it works. But I'll keep in mind the Creatable World bodies ....now THOSE I had not heard of til you mentioned them! They do seem perfect for teenagers, and will probably come in handy at some point. Basically, somewhere down the line, I would like to make a teen version of a SW character who is hanging out with a kid version of another SW character... just for a fun 'flashback' type scene. It's a project that's still a long way off, but I was nonetheless curious about both teen AND kid bodies for that reason, so your group pics are invaluable in that regard, since now I can see height comparisons! Smile

And re: the Obitsu -- I keep getting really surprised by how tiny those 11 cm Obitsu bodies are! For some reason, I keep thinking they are more the size of that generic 16 cm doll body you used for the kid in the first pic.

Speaking of Obitsu's .... if someone is just looking to do a female teen character, I think some of the larger 1/6 scale Obtisu bodies would work for that as well. The 24cm and 25 cm bodies, in particular:

Those two are pricey...and the Connor head looks a bit old fashioned.

Although I always found John Connor to be a rather annoying character. Laughing

E: Ok I googled the boy, he is rather pricey now, too! But thanks anyway, he would have been useful otherwise.

And it seems the baby form is about 7-7'5 cm long, x6 about 45cm, which might pass as tiny little 1/6 baby. I will give it a try:
