Thank you, I thought so too. And I know I have done the tribute to the LIFE magazine photo before (I forget in what context, other than Cap and Peggy), but it occurred to me an appropriate conclusion to the Star Wars A Happy Endings Story (in a crowd scene) that I added later.

In case you don't realize it, those are just two Naval Guards, with different heads in different photos. I think I have three pairs of the parted-out pants that I picked up for these customs a long time ago. Never owned the Dooku set.

Thanks for the head experiment! I think he looks very striking, although maybe not fitting the clean shaved aesthetic of the empire. Reminds me a bit of Pena from Fury.

And those reflections on the helmet are outstanding, great shot.

You noticed! You are very welcome. I had fun doing it, and actually like the result (and the head sculpt itself). But you're right, it does clash with the apparent clean-shaven look policy, so I've been using other heads for the other photo sets. Speaking of which, have you checked out the newest goof story that spun off of this custom?

Very well done. I liked these guys from the movies too and its surprising they haven't really been done yet. But you seem to have fixed this gap.

To me they look extremely Star Wars; there's no mistaking them for being anything else, really. Physical settings work far better for me, both as a viewer and as a photographer, than video screen or digitally inserted image backgrounds.

I'd love to get some tips on how to construct a plausible Star Wars setting... ideally without spending a fortune on long out-of-stock or custom 3D printed parts.

I would have to dig around (I know I have the digital files somewhere), although I don't think I ever did a review specifically of those. I own 1:12 and 1:18 scale Death Star panels from GTP's spacewalls series (this company seems to have gone exinct). See the link before for a Fwoosh review of an early basic set. I scanned the four most common types, blew them up to 1:6 scale, arranged them in a couple of different sequences by placing them (or duplicates) next to each other in CorelDraw, exported the results as images, and had them printed out on matte poly paper at Staples. I have two, and have been using them for a few years now. One has suffered some damage when a piece of tape caught on it, but luckily it is high up in the image, and I can keep it out of sight in the photos. I mean to redo them. The real lit up panels, however, are from Hot Toys' ROTJ Stormtrooper sets.

It does, indeed! I would not have guessed that these were "2D" printouts. I think printing them on the matte poly paper certainly enhanced the believability and three-dimensional appearance. Thanks for the info.
