Absolutely stunning as are practically all the Iron Man suits they’ve done, but like all of those I couldn’t afford this if I wanted to. Especially not with everything else I have on order.

The original Hot Toys Midas was a Summer Exclusive (2013), but it looks as if they are taking advantage of the "diecast" capacity to re-engineer it with more detail and moving parts. This could possibly be the most complicated/intricate of the Hot Toys Iron Man-s. It's going to cost its weight in gold (which I can't justify paying) but I hope at least I get a chance to see one in hand.

$405 and afaik, it's a repaint of the latest Iron Man Mk VII diecast.

Probably piloted by an Oscar Stark.

It looks gorgeous and perfect. But between the cornucopia of variations and the more uniform color scheme (at times it photographs almost as if it is a drawn graphic), it gets a little boring for me. The real shame is the hefty and increasing cost of these things, where years of experience and a plethora of pre-existing molds ought to make it more affordable for excited collectors.

Yep. Undeniably magnificent. But the price is an easy "no thank you".

All of this is true, particularly the comment about the uniform color scheme and how it photographs -- but I suspect that the actual impact of light bouncing off this thing into the eyeballs might be a whole other thing. That's why I commented that I hoped I'd get the chance to see one in person, maybe in Toy Square's spectacular shop windows. Say what you will, but visually Hot Toys has hit it out of the park with some of their full chrome polishes, so I don't see this as just a repaint. In medieval times, polished metal objects could have a mystical trance-inducing power because they were relatively rare. And Gold, most of all.

No doubt. That's why I said it looks gorgeous and perfect. They are generally top of the line, and especially when it comes to this type of thing.

Yeah, and chromes especially. If I ever do see one of these, I hope that day I've left my wallet home and can't be overcome...

ZzzzZZZzzzz....

Sorry, and no offense to anyone who wants one of these, but I'm tired of these things. Hot Toys really have sold themselves out to Disney.

Though I sound like I'm on the other side, I substantially agree with you. My 1/6 world is widely diverse, and I don't have a lot of respect for those whose collection is an automatic subscription to the HT Iron Man of the Month Club. But my solution is simply to totally ignore the majority of them, and to get excited about the special few that really excel or stand out in some way, engineering, chome look, or whatever. Last year I thought the Punisher War Machine was one of those. Next year I think the Diecast Iron Patriot will be. I am open minded whether this Gold one could make that short list.
