Can anyone post a video or give instructions on how to make resin molds, for example I want to make a plasma rifle for a space marine. How do I have it on the drawing board to finished product?

Hello, and welcome. I’ve never done it myself, but if you just type in “silicone moulds for resin” in YouTube, there are dozens and dozens of tutorials there. Good luck, and share your experience if/and when you do it. Note, however, silicone moulds can be tricky (from what I’ve seen), and require vacuum/pressure pots to get the bubbles out.

Hi and welcome!

Well there are multiple ways, you can create one part or two part molds from flexible material like silicone. There is kneadable material and there are liquid molds which you have to pour over your item.

For experimenting I highly recommend 'Oyumaru', that is the brandname of a reusable molding putty at least. I made my first moulds with these, copied little tabletop stuff like pouches, arms and heads etc. You just have to heat it in water, then it becomes flexible, you can press the item in there and it cures fast. You can fill the mold with resin or air curing putty like kneadite/green stuff. It can be reused when put in hot water again, ao no waste if something goes wrong or if you don't need the mold anymore.. Also there are never bubbles like with liquid molding stuff.

About the other techniques, the most pleasent tutorials are from 'The Crafsman', a smooth talking living sock wearing latex gloves:

Thanks for the replies I'm definitely going to try out blue stuff, But I really don't want to get some vacuum because that will be very expensive.
