He avoided mentioning True Grit or Rooster Cogburn so it appears to be one of those figures where the license has been granted for the actor's likeness, but not for the property it's going to represent.

Hmm not my favourite John Wayne film

That looks great. Hopefully, it actually IS a figure, and not a statue. While it isn’t my favorite Duke movie, I still love his Westerns, so if it turns out to actually be a figure, I’ll definitely get this. Though I worry about the cost, since there seems to be too many cooks in the kitchen, which always drives up expenses.

Dario says it's an "action figure", so it'll be in the same series KP are doing with Infinite Statue like their Bud Spencer and Inspector Clouseau.

Hopefully he'll look more the quality of Bud than Clouseau.

And hopefully, not the cost of Clouseau. Wink

I wouldn't count on it!

This KP/IS combo seems to be quite expensive.

I considered Bud because he looked really good, but couldn't justify him because I don't rate the Trinity films.

I'd be much more up for Rooster, as there's been a lack of quality John Wayne figures.

Indeed. That’s why I was happy to get in on the ArtFigures Ethan (The Searchers) — that turned out great.

Interesting. But I see added expense with the magnet base. I kind of hope that everything in the base isn’t just pre-attached (like the bag, coffee pot, cup for example), so the figure can interact with it.

I also don't trust the magnetic base, and would rather have a regular support rod. Because it all comes down to how well the figure's ankle joints hold up.

I'd have to sit him on the log for safety, unless his boots aid stability.

The boots could also be problematic if they are “one piece” and don’t allow at least some ankle movement for decent posing (though not as if The Duke was super active by then.

If they do them like Bud Spencer's they'll be genuine leather. (The Peter Sellers sets have real laces, but no mention of leather, so are probably shiny pleather).

Real leather would be great, and should make for support and some articulation.

It probably would.

Though I'm still wary about the idea of leaving a figure unsupported. I guess it's a case of try it and see.

All the links broke again here and on Collector Freaks.

No idea why.

Well, I hope it doesn’t break the bank like the Peter Sellers figure…

Looks amazing, I'm not a John Wayne expert, but the likeness seems better than on their Clouseau figure.

It's looking very good to me, although I too am no expert. The "Infinite Statue" brand name threw me, and I'm glad it's an action figure after all.

Setting aside where people may rank True Grit in their favorites, the choice leads to an older craggier eyepatch face which makes maybe for a more interesting figure. Down side is that it is also the single Wayne movie where the headsculpt cannot serve for any other John Wayne custom. Maybe this means that (if they have a John Wayne license, or are prepared to go without) this will be first of a series and we can look forward to their younger versions etc.
